Painting Kitchen Questions
painting kitchen? I would love to paint my kitchen. Right now it is pale yellow with white cabinets and white floor, any suggestions, even dramatic is appreciated.
Painting Kitchen Cabinets? I'd like to repaint the white kitchen cabinets in my new house. I suspect these have a coat of 50's green underneath several coats of white. I'd like to go with a darker "woodier" color. Should I paint them, or stain them? [I don't want to replace due to insufficient resources - otherwise I'd gut the kitchen] What are the steps to follow in painting or staining? I have read that I need to be stripping the paint, or at minimum, sanding the top coat. But, I realize that I would need to completely strip the paint to stain (and, is staining possible on these types of cabinets)?
Painting Kitchen Cabinets... Help Please? I have these old 80's kitchen cabinets... but they are in good condition. so i decided to paint them this cream color... anyone knows what is the correct way to do it (i heard you need to sand them first, and other things.... prior to painting) and the paint i need to use is millwork paint right? Please help....
Painting kitchen cabinets? I was thinking of painting my oak kitchen cabinets white. How do I prepare the wood to be painted? Can I lightly sand them or does the old finish need to be completely stripped off? Also, what type of paint is best...oil, latex, flat, satin, gloss?
Painting kitchen cabinets...? Ill be painting my kitchen cabinets white and then applying a light mocha glaze over the white. Hopefullly they will look like the expensive ones you see at lowes. How do I apply the galze to get that professional look? What type of brush? And what type of clear drying varnish do I use for the last step? Oh yeah, and the type of sand paper to get them that smooth texture? THNX
I just did an odd job painting kitchen cabinets, and the owner thinks I did a bad job. Can she sue me? She never paid me anything to do it, and I had to buy all my own supplies. She might not let me return to her house to finish the job. I feel like it was a trap. To worsen the situation, she says her husband is a police officer, so that gives her legal advantage to sue me and my parents for money. I don't have any money and a lot of debt and bills actually. Could someone help and point me in the right direction? FYI she hasn't let me finish painting. (I've only started stripping the paint, and she calls me up crying that I destoyed her beautiful kitchen.) I only took this odd job to make ends meet at the end of the month. She wanted to pay me just $8 an hour originally, but I haven't seen any of that money yet, and now she wants me to pay. FYI (everybody) I'm 20 years old. Thanks for all the quick responses! She left a message on my voice mail that says someone must pay for this. She mayh hire a professionial, and she wants to know the names of my parents.
Painting kitchen cabinets? I read from another asker, she said she wanted to paint her kitchen cabinets white then put a dark glaze over it to give that expensive look... i was thinking of doing that also... i read about that somewhere else and thaught that would be a better alternative for me to paint my cabinets (bc replacing them is really expensive). Well the look i was trying to do for is a maple or oak look and when i read that article it kind of gave me an idea on how to do that... I was wondering if any one has ever tried it? Did it come out good? What kinds of white paint and glaze should i use? What kind of paint brush? things like that..... Or if anyone has a different idea that i could use, i would also appreciate that.
Painting kitchen cabinets? How should we paint our wooden kitchen cabinets. They are dark wood varnished. Do we strip them first and then prime and paint them. The worktops are a blue/grey colour and the walls are white, what colour should we paint the cupboards?
painting kitchen cupboards? I want to update my kitchen, however I am unsure of what paint to use etc. Do you have to sand first, or will just applying primer do the job? I have honey oak cupboards and I want to paint them a winter white or light beige. Does anyone have any suggestions on what kind of paint I would need for this? thanks maureen
Question about painting kitchen cabinets? I want to repaint my kitchen cabinets a cream color. Right now they are varnished and some have a buildup of grease/varnish on them from decades ago. If I scrub them with some TSP-PF cleaner to get grease off, can I just prime them and put paint on top of old varnish? Or is is better for me to strip the old layers off? I do want good results but don't want to have to strip cabinets unless absolutely necessary.
Kitchen painting question? Before we started kitchen renovation, I found an inspiration picture - a Tuscan farm scene with yellow-orange fields, dark greens trees, and red roofs and the poppies. We have tiles w/ shades of yellow, tan, and rust and maple "spice" cabinets. The appliances are stainless steel w/ black. The countertops will be Juniperano St. Cecelia granite, which has a light base, with black, yellows, oranges, and some red flecks in it. The sink is black granite and the fixtures are brushed nickel. I took the color of the picture mat (Warm Muffin from Behr) and we painted that on the ceiling in the kitchen. The kitchen walls will be faux Italian plaster (not a lot of wall showing due to cabinets, tile backsplash, and banquette seating). The original plan was to pick up the red from the painting and granite by painting the kitchen walls a darker red color (similar to Behr's Ruby Ring). I need to paint the walls, but I'm starting to get scared. Will the red be too dark/bold? If so, what to do?
kitchen help (painting cabinets)? I remodeled my kitchen and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with painting their cabinets? I am thinking about painting them with a very little lavender tint because I painted my kitchen with a very light tint of green. It is so light you almost think it is white in the light. I think it will be cute but my husband says cabinets are ugly painted. right now they are stained with an orange tint and that i think is very ugly. Any experience with this situation and what should I do. thank you all thank you all
Painting my kitchen and need some help picking out good colors of paint? I have alot of neutral colors in my home and i would like some advice on colors for the kitchen. I have an older style kitchen and the cabinet doors have some engraved lines on the front of the door which I think would need to be a different color than the rest of the door. I was thinking about painting the doors a light wheat brown and then all the trim around the doors and the engraved parts a chestnut brown and the walls around the kitchen a creamy color. I dont know if this will look old or to dull? I need help! Ant suggestions or do you think Ive chosen the right colors? Thanks!
Painting the Kitchen- Latex or Oil Based Paint? I am painting my kitchen, trim, and metal cabinets. All are currently painted with an unknown paint (oil or latex). I have read I should use oil based on the trim and cabinets, but what should I use on the walls? Which is easier to clean grease etc. off of? What finish should I use to cover dirt/grease better?

Question about painting living room/kitchen...? I have a feeling, I'll be asking alot of questions in this category... We are planning on small changes over the next year to prepare our house for sale. I'll be repainting eventually and am wondering if it's alright to paint the kitchen and living room the same color? It's not an open floor plan, though you can see the rooms from each other. There is also a bathroom off of the kitchen, would I have to paint that too?
Painting a kitchen, colour advice for old house? My mums very old, cold house has a massive kitchen with lots of uneven walls to emulsion and lots of wood to gloss. At the moment the walls are sky blue and the woodwork is sunflower yellow, so nice and bright. We want a complete change in colour scheme but we haven't a clue, it's been this colour for about 15 years so nervous to change it and make a mistake - any ideas, please! The wood has to be painted not stripped, some of it is chipboard covering pipes etc. Had a look at Farrow and Ball found some ideas thanks .....Wow, moved 16 times! I was thinking of 3 colours, you've given me lots of ideas something to thinik about (for ages)!

A few questions about painting my kitchen? I am on my way to go buy the supplies to paint my kitchen. The walls currently have Kilz oil based primer on them (over several layers of unidentified white paint). The walls are textured and don't need any repairs. My questions are: 1) What kind of paint is best on textured walls? I was thinking about using matte. Is this ok? Oil or latex? Fumes aren't an issue. 2) What color should I use? My cabinets are white, my counters are a pale greyish blue, and my floors are a dark reddish brown wood laminate. All the trim, accessories, and curtains are white. I can't decide between light yellow and a blue that is a few shades darker than my counters (kind of a stormy ocean blue-grey). I like the blue a lot but I'm afraid it may make it look gloomy (and also require more coats than the yellow). 3) What supplies do I need to buy? How much paint will it take to cover a room that is approx 13x18 with 8ft ceilings? Sorry for the long question. Thanks in advance for your help

Can you help me with painting kitchen cabinets PLEASE?? I am at the priming stage on dard pine wood cabinets, with a good latex enamel (Behr), and using a good 2 1/2" nylon (as directed) brush. Looks like I will need two coats of primer to cover. My question is about the brush streaks and what is the technique for brushing when I get to the horizontal/vertical slats? Thanks for any info. val

Kitchen Cabinets - Painting? My kitchen cabinets are very solid and a nice looking design I think, but they are probably 20 years old. I don't know exactly what these are "painted" with, but it looks like it's some sort of baked on enamel or something. It definitely wasn't brush painted. Anyone have experience with these? what will I need to do to paint them as far as getting them prepped?
