Bamboo Flooring... personal experiance, thoughts, & opinions please!? Bamboo flooring fading... Please help? About 6 months ago I installed some (what I now realize is pretty cheap) bamboo flooring in my living/dining room. I have two big sliders in the room, both with sheer curtain covering them. Just today I pulled up the area rug to clean the floor and realized there is a very noticeable fading around the perimeter of the rug. I am completely shocked. I knew nothing could really resist fading, but this is really bad. I have laminate bamboo which looks great, but obviously does not resiste fading well at all. Can you please tell me what options I have to 1) slow this process and/or 2) help lessen the existing fading so it's not so obvious (i.e. blend it somehow)? I don't know of anything I can do so any help from the gurus out there would be greatly appreciated.

Questions regarding bamboo flooring installations.? I am scheduled to install a bamboo floor throughout a ladies entire house minus a bathroom and a half bath (1825 sf) and she wants it done wihtout any t-moldings anywhere except where it touchs the tile of the 2 baths. The longest point on the width is 42ft which I plan to use the spacers and the length is 62ft. The layout of the house is such that it is not contiguous across the 62ft however my concern with her is having areas where the material will not be wide enough to actually work with, ie. a 1/8th sliver of wood to be against the wall. Has anybody done this and any suggestions on how to make her understand why the t-moldings are needed. Her concerns are purely aestetic because it is steam carbonized bamboo and the t-moldings are a deeper color than the flooring. HELP PLEASE!!!

How should I install new bamboo flooring over existing hardwood? I just posted another question about this but now I have another. I'm about to install bamboo flooring. I'd like to put it over my existing hardwood floor (which has been covered with carpet since long before I owned the house). I just took up the carpet and am prepping the floor. One problem is that the existing floor squeaks, ALL OVER. Does anyone have recommendations for eliminating the squeaks before I install the new stuff? I've run some nails and screws into the joists and they seem to help but it seems like I'll need a ton of them for this. Also, when I install the new stuff, which is tongue and groove, should I install it perpendicular to the existing flooring or parallel? The existing floor is already perpendicular to the floor joists. Thanks for the suggestions.

House Insulation and bamboo flooring? Hi, In building our new home, we are now looking at insulation. We have been told by everyone around us that insulation is the key, if we want an energy efficient home. My question is, can you have too much insulation? We are based in Wales, UK, so I realise that we are not exactly blessed with the weather but I also don't want to live in a sauna by going over the top with the insulation! I know we are going to have insulation in the roof/cavity and double glazing everywhere but can you ever over heat a house this way? Also, does anyone have any experience of using bamboo flooring? Is it harder to put down that other wood flooring or has anyone had any problems with it after a period of time. Thanks!

What are your thoughts on Bamboo flooring? I'm looking to install a type of flooring in my home, and I've been considering bamboo flooring because it's supposedly a fairly decent hardwood which looks good, relatively cheap, and a renewable type of wood unlike cherry or teak. Does anyone have experience with Yanchi Bamboo flooring? I really like the look of Bamboo flooring, but I've read horror stories about some of the bad Bamboo that has found its way onto the market. Yanchi certainly seems to be doing all the right stuff (e.g. ISO 9002 certification) and the reviews on the web site are excellent. However, I take those with a huge grain of salt. Is Yanchi a premium product like they claim it to be?

Is Bamboo Flooring Difficult to Do Oneself? Any Suggestions? We recently bought a home with horrible berber (I hate berber!) and I'm very interested in replacing the floors with bamboo. How difficult is it to install myself. Which is better for bamboo flooring, a floor stapler gun or a floor nail gun? I did one room with the nail gun that required the use of a mallet but seems so time consuming. I was wondering is the use of a floor stapler gun would do as good as a job. The bamboo floor is stronger than the wood. Would the staples go in?

installing floating bamboo flooring? i'm having a problem with a gluess lock & fold floating bamboo floor when i keep installing a new row the boards keep snaping off why is this? i will lay the first board of the row snap it in fold down than the next board the end goes on then i elevate the board at about 25 degree angle which causes the other board to lift snap in place tap slightly .when i start the third board doing same the first board would come loose this even happen to the whole row one time; just don't understand what i'm doing wrong.
