Who thinks LED and Solar lights give quality lighting? I've been installing landscape lighting for almost 20 years and can't uderstand why people see value in LED & Solar lights. It's like the electric car - great in theory but proformance leaves alot to be desired. Fireflies in a jar, Fireflies in a jar.

Energizer vs. Ni-Cd Rechargeable batters in Solar Lighting - Can I use them? I just bought an inexpensive (used) pack of 8 solar lighting walkway lights but now see that they come with Ni-Cd Rechargeable batteries! Can't I just good-ole Everready or some-such disposable batteries?? I don't have a battery charger and I'm afraid the cost of the 8 Ni-Cd's will be more than what I paid for the pack of lights! What's the Worst thing that would happen if I did?? Thanks for this.

Solar lighting ....... technical info ...please.? I note that typical garden solar lights have the solar panel directly connected to the battery/light. What I would like to know is ...... Is there a loss of efficiency/energy if the solar panel is remote ( say 2-3 metres/yards) and connected by electrical wire to the battery/light ?

solar lighting for the garden? last summer we had a set of solar lights you push into the ground in the garden they were lovely very atmospheric then as the winter drew in they seem to lose some of their power obviously due to lower light levels in the day until they went off completely so we brought new rechargable batteries for them charged them first then put them in some worked some did not but even the ones that did still seemed very dim we have not had a bad bad winter in the uk so light levels have been fair i have now been out and replaced them with a whole new set of lights do they have a lifespan does anyone know because we had only had them under one year and cant believe they have to be replaced so soon

(not the cheap solar) I've had a Home Staging company ask if we would set up lighting in the fronts of homes for customers who are selling their homes. I have been looking at Malibu Solar landscape lights and notice that they post no information as to how much light they put out. Use NiMH batteries instead of NiCd in outdoor solar lights? After recently purchasing and installing a set of outdoor solar lights, I found that the brightness of the lights was very weak, even after plenty of sunlight to charge the batteries. It appeared that some of the batteries were border-line dead. I have replaced 2 of the NiCd batteries (600 mAh) with rechargeable NiMH batteries (2500 mAh) and the difference is astounding! They are not only brighter than the others, but after an overcast day that left 8 of the lights out of charge early in the evening, the other 2 stayed bright all night. My understanding is NiMH batteries are more powerful, can hold a charge longer (explaining the higher cost) and also do not contain cadmium (a highly toxic metal), but is the internal solar charger capable of recharging the NiMH batteries I put in them? It has only been a few days since I put them in, so I think it may be too early to tell if they are being recharged, and I am concerned about potential damage to the light. Appreciate some feedback.

Garden/landscape Solar lights problem? I bought some Malibu landscape solar lights. I installed them yesterday, and they were working in the evening. Today it rained and some of them stopped working. Or better they are flickering. Light goes on and off. Could the rain have effected the lights or do they still need more time to charge? Please help because I am ready to return them. So frustrated.

How can I brighten dim solar lights? Ok, so I bought solar lights from my neighborhood Walmart and they looked great, but after a few months, the light started to get dimmer and dimmer. I think the contruction workers across the street stoled my brad new solar lights. what shall I do? I just bought solar lights for my walkway to the house. Across the street are builders that are working to finish some homes. I installed the lights then left for workat 7 pm. When I returned 7am in the morning my brand new lights were gone. I have a fenced in yard. When assessing the loss one worker across the street volunteered and said he seen kids playing in the yard last night. My roommate went to bed at 11 pm and the lights were there. Why didnt he tell the kids to leave if this were so? Why were the kids out pass 11 on a school night? I notified the police and they took some remains to fingerprint. While the police were present the witness and other workers hid in the houses. What is really going on and who do yall think is the villan? What should I do? By the way I dont really think kids find great fun in solar patio lights, but a home builder would! Open to comments.
