Landscape Lighting Questions

Landscape lighting? We recently purchased our house and some of the outdoor lighting is not working. These lights focus on trees in our yard. There are missing lights in some of them. Can we just replace the bulb in the shell of the current system? Anything we need to be aware of? What are we looking for exactly?
Realtors: Do you find "Value/Curb Appeal" in landscape lighting when showing a home? (not the cheap solar) I've had a Home Staging company ask if we would set up lighting in the fronts of homes for customers who are selling their homes. I was wondering if the realty community had any opinions on the value of quality landscape lighting. I'm not talking the store bought cheap fixtures - either solar or plastic light kits, but metal low voltage lights for the sidewalks, lighting for pillars and brick/stone face, along with any trees etc.
Landscape lighting? Does anyone know of a company that can help with lighting design? I understand the wiring and voltage drop etc... I need help with the lighting design. I want to light up the front of my home (stone face)(wall wash & columns) and do some up lighting and down lighting on trees (moon lighting effect) (wooded lot -nice mature trees). I've seen some really nice lighting in my area and understand the concepts but need help in knowing what kind of fixtures and bulbs - also placement. Any suggestion on a good company? Minnesota - Twin Cities
Landscape lighting - hard-wired electrical vs solar-powered? Electrical line is already available so what are pros and cons other than ease of installation for solar-powered? This is for a walkway from our driveway to front steps. Also, how about low-voltage vs normal voltage?
Landscape lighting - Why is one run dim? I have a 600 watt transformer with one 150' run & one 200' run w/a total of 320 watts, but the 200' run is dim. Why? The transformer is supposed to accommodate two 200' runs. Would a bigger transformer fix the problem?
Which landscape malibu lighting system to choose? I am debating between a low-voltage malibu light system and solar-powered for my backyard. I heard the solar-system is easy to install, cheap but the lights are very weak. My backyard is already pre-wired to use the low voltage system but I am not sure how much it would add to my electric bill. What's your opinion?
Does anbody make good landscape solar lighting products? Like a complete system? I'm looking for something more powerful than those pale useless self-solar single lights, such are sold at Home Depot. I'm looking for functionality, not a bargain.
Should the same company that does your landscape irrigation do you lighting? Are there cost savings to doing both irrigation and lighting with the same company? What are the pros and cons?
Why are my landscape lights producing a dull light? I just installed 7 landscape lights and 2 spotlights this weekend and the light is very dull. I am using a 300 watt box and I ran about 250 feet of cable. the landscape lights are 10 watt and I believe the spotlights are 50 watt. Thanks!

The problem is it is rainy for the past two days and dark and since I have bought them they never charged fully. I bought them two days ago. Low Voltage Landscape Lights: Wiring and Spacing Questions? I am installing low voltage lighting and have a couple of questions: I'm working both with 4 watt and 11 watt tiered path lights. I plan to use the 11 watt fixtures on corners and at steps. How far apart should I space the 4 watt fixtures along the path? Also, can I change out the 4 watt bulbs with 11 watt bulbs if some areas need extra lighting? Is it true that I can pierce the low voltage cable and if I'm not happy with the location, that it is OK to remove the fixture and place it elsewhere (meaning the cable is really self sealing?) I have about 240 watts of lights to be controlled by a 300 watt transformer, on 12 gu cable, and the run is approximately 150 feet. Should I run two, 75 foot cables to the transformer, or have one long 150 foot cable to it?
Who thinks LED and Solar lights give quality lighting? I've been installing landscape lighting for almost 20 years and can't uderstand why people see value in LED & Solar lights. It's like the electric car - great in theory but proformance leaves alot to be desired. Fireflies in a jar, Fireflies in a jar.
Why does low voltage lighting have to be 10 feet from pool? I just put in some low voltage landscape lighting and a few of the fixtures are about 3 feet from the edge of my inground pool. The instructions say not to have any fixtures within 10 feet from the pool "for maximum safety". I thought low voltage lighting was completely safe. Why shouldn't I have fixtures within 10 feet from the pool edge?
Garden/landscape Solar lights problem? I bought some Malibu landscape solar lights. I installed them yesterday, and they were working in the evening. Today it rained and some of them stopped working. Or better they are flickering. Light goes on and off. Could the rain have effected the lights or do they still need more time to charge? Please help because I am ready to return them. So frustrated.
Malibu landscape lights do not work!? I hooked the transformer up, hooked the first wires in to a and b and spliced the lights in and nothing. They are the ones from home depot, it comes with 4 little spotlights. Any ideas?

How do I get my low voltage landscape lights to be the same brightness? They become progressively more dim the farther away from the power transformer they are (which is powerful at 300W).
What setting to use to shoot night Photography without using flash for outdoor landscaping lighting company? I'm using a Canon SLR 10D. I have a buddy who has a lighting landscaping company and he wanted to shoot some stuff for his website. I have an image stablizer on it and I set it to ISO 800 around 1 sec f4 and shooting with no flash. If I set it higher than that it becomes more blurry because some parts are dark and some are lit from the lights. Some of these places that I'm shooting isn't going to be great for a tripod. Would a IS still work in this case or try to go with the tripod?

Is conduit pipes needed for low voltage landscape lighting in NYC? Hello, Does anyone know if NYC code requires conduit pipes for low voltage wiring around an outdoor garden area? If so, does the conduit need to be running along the floor or can it be mounted along a concrete wall? Thanks.
In terms of light out-put,how do solar landscape lights compare to low voltage lights? I have been looking at Malibu Solar landscape lights and notice that they post no information as to how much light they put out. They have some solar lights that have two LEDs and some with three LEDs. How do these compare with the standard 4 watt low voltage lights?
Why are my LED solar landscape lights glowing blue instead of white? I just installed solar coach lights for my pathway on Sunday. They are "supposed" to be a "bright white", according to the package. They are glowing mosquito zapper blue. They glowed this color for the last 2 nights. Is it b/c they need more days to charge? They came from Walmart. Please advise!
Electrical: How do I replace 3 (120 Volt) landscape lights with low voltage lights - is this a job for a pro? I have already purchased my new lights but just today learned about the voltage variance (what I have now is 120V, need to move to low voltage). I'd like to use the existing underground wiring for the new lights, if this is possible. Can a layman easily install a transformer on the existing line and plug the new low volt lights into the heavy power cable already in place? ...or is this too much of a job to bite off for a guy juggling overcommitted weekend schedules and soccer coaching?
I took a landscape picture that actually had an old hotel in it, and i was wondering how do i add light to? the hotel sign...either neon or twinkle lights..or etc.. i think you have to use an animation ... i am a novice to the editing programs,, is it possible to add lights to a picture... i was thinking black and white photo...motel sign lit up... impossible???
Halloween-Not Giving Out Candy? I'm not giving out candy this year. I plan on leaving all the lights in my house off and turning of the overhead lights and the lamp post. However, I have ground lighting in front of my house. It's in the flower beds and it highlights the landscaping/shrubs around my house. It's landscaping lighting and it's also solar powered, meaning I can only turn it off I pull the lights out. I don't want to do this. Do you think people will still come to my door even though the front lights and lamp post aren't on. Just the landscape lighting. My walkway has developed a crack in it. I'm worried people might trip and fall. This is the reason, I'm not having trick or treaters.
What does it mean to "coil the wire"? I'm installing some low voltage outdoor landscape lighting. The instructions say that any wiring left over at the end (after the fixtures have been put in place), well as they put it, you can just "coil the wire". What does that mean? Just coil it in a circle and tie a knot? I figured I shouldn't leave the end wire exposed.

Why is my New Light Switch Tripping the Breaker? I just installed a new switch (provides power to the landscaping lights) & receptacles. Tapped off of an extra circuit from the basement. I connected the Hot & Neutral wires to one side of the receptacle, and ran Hot/Neutral from the other side of the receptacle to the switch (Hot - On/ Neutral - Off terminals). I also connected the Black/White wires from the outdoor lighting transformer with the same Hot/Neutral wires on the switch. When the switch is in the ON position, & the Circuit Breaker is turned ON - All is good. Light work. Receptacle works. However, when I turn OFF the light switch & then turn it back ON, it trips the circuit breaker ever time ?? What did I do wrong ?? Any advise would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks. BVW JN Thanks for the input. I have the ground wire coming from the ROMEX connected to both the Switch & the Receptacle. S/B Grounded.
