Kitchen Design Questions
Kitchen design? I am still working on a design for a new kitchen. The salesperson who is putting the design together for me has the oven (raised) and refridgerator next to each other. She assured me that they could be close together but I am not sure. Help!!!! In the design I like the oven and fridge next to each other. People have been telling me though it is not good to have a hot oven next to the fridge for technical reasons. Supoosedly the oven will ruin the fridge.
Kitchen design? Hi- I'm a college grad student and am renting a townhouse. I am looking for ways to add fun color and decoration to my kitchen without spending too much money and no remodeling. I have cabinets with open space at the top so that has potential. Any ideas?

Kitchen Design websites? My husband and I are building a house and are trying to decide the final details on the kitchen. We've picked out the flooring, but not the cabentry or countertops. We have black appliances and are wanting a "warm" feeling but are afriad of making everything so "dark". Any suggestions on where I could find some pictures or design websites that would offer any ideas?
interactive website for kitchen design? i'm looking for a website where i can see colors of cabinets, floors, and countertops together....hubbby and i will be moving into grandmas house where we will gut the kitchen, but we will keep the floor because it's pretty cool. of course it's a orangy-redish stone design, so color matching will be difficult. is there a site where they give you a blank canvas and allow you to add colors and styles? kind of interactive website? thanks
Bedroom / Kitchen design software? My brother in law has just started his own business, he fits custom kitchens and bedroom cupboards etc. He would like to design them first on the computer to give the customer a view of how it will look like when finished. We have tried other home design softwares, but they are too complicated and take to long. I am looking for a simple software where we can just set the sizes of the cupboards and the positions and get a 3D view of it. Also i would like to be able to upload specific cupboard designs on to it e.g. colour, patterns, wood grains etc. So if you know of any good software for this please let me know. You help is much appreciated.
Kitchen design-help? I am remodeling my kitchen. What happens is that the kitchen and dining room are an only lineal piece and I don't have any the original floor tiles. I need to change the kitchen tile but I would like an idea on how to make it look good, like separate from the other room. I was thinking in borders or diamond. I'm not sure on what to do or the colors. The other tiles are terracota and the kitchen cabinets are mahogany. If I could see a picture maybe on the web of one idea!!
New Kitchen - Design query. wood units on wood floor? dilema.? We are currently choosing a kitchen to be installed in our 80's semi. Our initial idea was to have an oak laminate floor put on the entire ground floor (lounge/hall/kitchen/dining area) to create unity between all the rooms and keep dusty down etc. Glass doors to nable light to travel through (dark house). Now we are attempting to choose a kiting suite and ae stuck ! Would wooden faced doors look odd aginst a wooden floor? concernerned it way look to woody - like a sauna? Merge / clash? Should we go for painted wood type or plain doors to complement /contrast with the flooring? Or shoudl we not laminate the entire downstairs and have traditional black / cream tiles on kitchen floor to enable wood units to be fitted? Thus breaking up the "untiy / flow" of having the whole floor the same? We are trying to consider resale potential of the house (in the future) and trying to make it as light and large feeling as possible along with us having to like it obviously. Many Thanks

If you're a kitchen designer or contractor: I've been a kicthen / bath designer for 4 years and have never quite mastered the skill of writing contracts / bids for my clients. They always seem to find crazy loopholes in my proposals to get free services and products at the end of the job. The company I work for doesn't have a standard contract for clients to sign - I'm looking to see if anyone out there has an airtight format they use.

Italian or Tuscan Kitchen Design? I'm looking for some inspirations for my new apartment's kitchen. I want to go with an italian look. So far all I can think of it some grapes and wine bottles. Any idea's or links would be great!
Design kitchen color scheme around white stove and fridge? A white fridge and stove are coming today. We are just re-coloring the kitchen (walls, cabinets, flooring) temporarily and inexpensively until we re-vamp to re-sell years later. I'd love to do a modern mocha muave slate color scheme, but I think the white will be too stark a contrast. The countertop stays for now- a marbly laminate that ranges from a beige to mocha, with mauve undertones. How do I tie in that mix with white? To what extent can we use modern neutrals? Thank you!
can somebody help on a a structural design on a community centre kitchen? i have an plot of land that needs a structural design to build a kitchen. it is roughly 70 foot long and one side is 40foot long and the other is 30 foot. it is in the shape of a trapesium. the land sits next to a railway track. i wanted to put a concrete slab rather than piling then use RSJ to build on top. this is so we can have a light building built. The plot of land is part of a community centre which requires a kitchen to be built on a very tight budget. Can sombody help please?
Design question kitchen at one end living room at other end all one room? My kitchen is red very red I'm lost on the living room color. Sence these rooms run together I'm thinking of something in the orange hue not bright but muted color. I just don't know if this is to much? also from my kit/livi you can see the bath that I painted purple. I love this color and need this all pulled together. With the living room color any ideas
How do I design a kitchen window with rectangular lites in a 36 inch vertical opening? I'm remodeling my kitchen and I know I want three windows, two feet each set together in a 6 - 7 foot horizontal opening by 36 inch vertical opening. I'm trying to mimick the style of my french doors so I don't want squares. However, the window that was delivered looked like the incredible hulk of windows with too much wood framing and hardly any glass and they were all square. Hate it!
Kitchen paint color scheme - interior decorating/design question HELP!? Help! My kitchen needs a makeover! Here's what has to stay - the floor has a marbled look to it - it is mostly white but has blueish gray in it, the cabinets are a beautiful dark wood to match the rest of the trim in our home, and the countertop is pale blue. The kitchen is quite small, and sort of dark because of all of the dark wood cabinets, but I am not willing to paint the cabinets. I consider myself to be good at interior design, but I am just stumped because of the high contrast between the pale blue countertop and the dark cabinets. I love the floor, but hate the countertop. I know you can buy paint to paint the counter, but I am too scared to do that. I would consider having someone put new laminate on the countertop, but I have no idea how much this would cost or who (a store?) you would go to to ask about this. Another problem I have is that there is a LOT of trim in our kitchen. This means I have to decide on two colors instead of one. Currently the kitchen is the same as it was when we moved in last year - I've done the rest of the house but am stumped on the kitchen. Right now the walls are sort of a pale greenish blue and the trim is sort of a light evergreen, and there is flowerish border around to tie all the blues/greens/beiges together. It certainly doesn't look bad, but its just kind of "blah" and doesn't do anything for me. It doesn't reflect my style or the fact that I'm 24 and really into interior design. I'm also scared to pair the blue with yellow because of it looking too country-ish. Please help! One more thing - my living room is off the kitchen, but through a doorway, and it is done in monochromatic shades of the aquaish color that's so hot right now - if anyone is familiar with Pier 1, its the color that they have a lot of pieces and curtains in. If I stick with blue or green in the kitchen, won't this clash with the aqua in the livingroom? Many are suggesting painting an accent wall another color - my kitchen is sort of circular with cabinets all around - there is no ceiling to floor wall in the whole kitchen without cabinets or the bar against it.
Kitchen cabinet / backsplash design question - your opinion please? Take a look at the following picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/77094332@N00/2052510579/ Notice on the left side on the bar, the cabinets stop on top but the backsplash keeps running the length of the counter. I don't believe this is how it is supposed to be. What is your opinion? 1) It is correct as is, backsplash should run entire length of granite 2) It needs to be changed, there should be another cabinet on the end 3) It needs to be changed, the backsplash should stop when the cabinets stop.. Let me know, thanks. This is not something I designed. It is a new house that was under construction when I bought it... one of these cookie cutter houses. This is a new floor plan though and I think they are working out the kinks.
