Home Decorating? I am looking at decorating my new home in feng shui design. Does anyone out there have any ideas on paint colours 4 a kids playroom, 4 bedrms and a kitchen/living area??? Any good ideas on curtains or blinds??? Flooring?? I dont like the fake floor boards that r in the kitchen/living area now. I am looking 4 some good ideas am open 2 any sugestions. Thank you people.

Ideas for decorating home gym? Looking for ideas on decorating a home gym. The space is large and a perfect rectangle (about 20 x 15), carpet is blue. It's an empty clean slate right now and I'm open to any ideas. The one requirement is that the room be 'masculine'. Since I girlied up the rest of the house, I promised my husband that this would be a 'mans' room. Need fun ideas for wall color/border, shelving, entertainment unit (have ipods and 19in TV), towel racks -- we're open to anything you can think of. There are no windows in this room (bad idea for a gym, I know - but there are ceiling vents). We already have two very large mirrors afixed to the wall (formerly mirrored closet doors).
Home cake decorating business: Illegal in many states, but people seem to still do it? How, why? I would love to start a home-based cake decorating/bakery out of my home since I can't afford a store. I discovered running one is illegal here. But I come across a few people who whip out their cake portfolios and try to sell you their services anyway. I'd like to make birthday cakes for maybe friends of friends and just have them pass the word around that I can bake custom cakes. Would you still do it and try to keep it low-key or just forget your dream? The reason it's illegal in GA is because it is food, and that they will then require a seperate building w/ a commercial kitchen, then inspect it. But I have ran across several women in the past who just do this out of their own home anyway.

Can you help me find home building/decorating websites? My husband and I are buying a home that only the outside is done. On the inside the stud walls are up, but that is it. We will have to do everything from electrical to sheetrock. I have 3 small daughters (7, 4, and 2) and want their rooms to be beautiful. Home Decorating on a Pretty Low Budget? I have a bit of a 'thing' for older items. I have alot of brass vases, I love collecting candle holders, I adore the pictures by Waterhouse, brass beds, drapes not curtains that gently sweep the floor. Frames of our family, in contradiction, in black frames with the white inserts which give the impression of the picture either deeper or standing out of the frame, completely comfy lounges that arn't big and bulky. Furnishings which need to be child friendly/proof...lol... Childrens rooms. Girls, one who likes pink and princesses the other who leans slightly more in the direction of the gothic side. Boys, one who loves AFL, cricket and now golf. The other Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and small toys requiring imagination. Finally, we live in a Housing Trust/Public Housing home but have pretty much free reign, we also have a limited budget. Where would I begin? Any and all ideas: websites, stores, mags etc. Let me know please. I haven't a clue! lol Thankyou everyone. =) I appreciate all the answers I've been given so far, there are some good ideas in there. What I'm mostly interested in though is where to begin looking for colour schemes, the sort of thing that will work well in a small home and with the type of things that I like, described (sort of...lol...) in the orginal question. I'm a regular of op/bargin/2nd hand shops. We technically own two pieces of actual furniture that are new and three electronic/whitegood's that are new. Everything else, pretty much 2nd hand. :) lol I would rather go for newer things though as for once we'll actually have the money to do so. 2nd hand was has mostly always been our only option, not AN option unfortunately. How important is home decor/decorating in life? I was just looking for some movitivational/inspirational advice. I moved into this cool apartment nearly a year ago and still have not had time to get it the way I want it. In fact, I still have a few unpacked boxes lying around. I have a lot of good ideas on what I want to do, but just can never seem to execute them because I'm busy, broke or whatever. Should making a more livable/organized, and pretty apartment be a priority in my life? Has anyone overcome a similar problem and then felt their life change after they got a better organized and decorated home? How can I find the energy and motivation to do this because I do want my apartment to be more welcoming...so I can invite friends and family over? I know part of the problem is that I work two jobs and I am kind of broke. Your thoughts....

Art & Home Decorating and Restrcucture? I am looking to research the best way to upgrade my 1950's flat-top home without loosing too much of it's orginal look, but expanding some room areas. I have gone though the DIY website and This Old House? The plans came back from the Artchitect, but I really am looking for some epansion, deocarting ideas for smaller rooms, and style ohter than "Botter Barn & IKEA look? What I want is my original style, but I need some inspiration because I'd like to keep the 1950's look with a twist of a modern yet Artistic style. Any website suggestions, books, magazines? I already have BH& G, House So Beautiful, and so forth. I want ideas that are hard to find because of their originality. Thank You!

I need good websites on home decorating ideas? We plan to start building a house in the next few months and need ideas. I like the meditrainian look with earth tones, wood floors. Mod home decorating, like coffee shop theme....? My dad and I are fixing up our house, and we want to go for that theme, like coffee shop theme. Not like Pictures of coffee stuff, and biscotti pictures... like red walls, and black furniture, wall lighting, etc. I think that style is really comfortable, and my question is where can I find some online inspiration websites for these place. I have tryed to do a room for under 500 dollars, like the one show, and I have tryed to do a room for under 2000 dollars and I'm telling you it's so no not even possable. without ending up looing like u went shopping at Big Lots ! help! the one idea I tryed was very close to the doom on the show design on a dime were she said she went to a DISCOUNT store and picked up a chair and two lamps and two tables "all for just 358.00 dollars. but when I went to buy the almost exzact items it rang up $832.68 so how can these shows make these clams? or do they just get really BIG tv show discounts?
Classic rock wallpaper border for home decorating? I recently decided to re-decorate my room and give it an update from what it has been basically my whole childhood, but now i am looking into getting a wallpaper border for around the room and have had trouble finding anything that i really like or would want in my room for an extended period of time. So i was wondering if anyone knew of a place where i could find classic rock wallpaper border that has album covers or something similar to that. Help on Home Decorating Assignment...rock n roll related : >? Okay, assignment is to design a dream house. I already know all the basics ( huge mansion, tons of guest room, acres of land, etc). What I need some ideas on are stuff like color themes and I'm trying to think of a design I can repeat in different rooms to tie it together. The only thing is that I don't want to copy a band's symbol and it has to be school approiate(stuff like a pentagram wouldn't go over) Any ideas are totally appreciated...thanx
help with home decorating?? well I just got some new end tables (for beside my couch which is mocha brown) the table have glass tops and black rod iron bases. they are also sqaure in shape. I was wondering what lamps I should put on top of them! I have looked everywhere and I cant figure it out!
