Storage Cabinets Questions
searching for garage storage cabinets and workbench? anyone know where to shop for affordable garage storage systems. I like units they sell at Sears by Craftsmen and Gladiator but they are out of my price range. I've checked Home Depot and Menards already. I don't want rubbermaid type. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
HON or Sandusky steel storage cabinets - which do you like better? I'm looking at purchasing two locking cabinets - the kind with 5 shelves inside, 36"W x 72"H x 18"D. I've always had HON, but Sandusky is also available. I don't want a flimsy thing that's going to fall apart when one screw falls apart. What do you have? What do you like?
Whats your opinion on Garage/Tools storage cabinets? Gladiator is a nice line, but expensive. I see they have a cheaper line called Gladiator Cadet. They look very similar to STACK ON. Does anyone know if they are made by the same company? I'd like to buy some garage style cabinets because a rolling tool box like Craftsman really won't work in my garage. Anyone know which brand(s) I should stay away from. You can't always believe the reviews that are posted on the companies web-sites. Thanks.
What gives hotel guests the idea that they can go through hotel storage rooms and cabinets? I work in a hotel. Frequently guests will come into the lobby and start going through the cabinets and drawers. We used to keep sensitive materials in our PRIVATE cabinets but now we've had to move everything until we have locks installed. People will also go through the storage rooms and take whatever they want. This is stealing. My question what makes people feel entitled to go through cabinets and storage rooms in a hotel when they would never dream of doing this at any other public place? Some peole continue looking after they have been assisted or reprimanded....
plans/designs for a typical high school woodshop class tool storage cabinet with lockable doors.? I have been looking to create a storage cabinet for a wood working shop like the ones I remember in high school, but don't want to start from scratch. Are there any plans/designs or something pre-built that I would be able to purchase. I was looking at something that would be aprox. 72"Hx96"Wx24"D with hinged fold out deep doors that would accomodate hand tools to be stored on the inside of the doors. The doors would be aprox. 8" deep. The military might have something like this, but I haven't had the chance to serve so I don't know if this exists in the armed forces. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Thomas
Kitchen cabinet storage? How to figure out what goes in which cabinet? We just bought a house with big kitchen and lots of storage, There are all kind of draws and cabinets- high, low, narrow, wide, ----how to decide what to put where?
Is there a website I can design my own storage/cabinet solutions? I want to design my children's bedrooms with cabintry. I'd like to buy pre-built units and install them myself. Where to find Wire Wine rack pullout storage for a base cabinet? I am a cabinetry ditricutor and have been looking for sometime a source that would have a storage unti for wine that could be used in a base cabinet ....must be a pullout system...wire would be nice. The bottles should sit at an angle to prevent them sliding out. Anything would be nice really. I have already tried Rev a shelf, the home centers, and most anywhere you'd think to find it. This is a very hard to find item..if you find it please send me the link.
Where can I find a dining room table that converts to a cabinet with chair and leaf storage underneath? While growing up my aunt and uncle had a table like this. When not in use it looked like a nice buffet cabinet. When you opened the doors on the front you were able to pull out the table. Underneath there was storage for extra leaves and the chairs. The chairs folded up for storage.I can't remember for sure how many chairs there were but I would venture to say that there were at least eight. I haven't seen one of these tables in over 20 years. Does any one else know what I'm talkeing about?
Replacing master bathroom cabinets? We need to rip out and replace our master bathroom cabinets (dual sink). They are water damaged and have no drawers. We don't want anything fancy, just simple cabinets with drawers, under sink storage and a simple countertop. The space isn't that large, 21 1/8 deep and 37 5/8 long. Approximately how much would this cost? Is Home Depot a good place to go to buy the cabinets and have them installed? I don't want to get ripped off but this is our first attempt at remodeling so we are a bit clueless. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

storage for SMALL bathroom.........? I have a VERY small bathroom. There is a small(24 in) vanity with 2 door storage,an over the toilet stogage cabinet and that is all. There is no room to add any other storage shelves or racks. This is my bath,I don't share it with my hubby(he has his own),although it is used by any visitors we have.Lady's you all know how much STUFF we have.It just looks so junky with all this stuff out on the cabinet over the toilet.I had an idea for storage and I was wondering if anyone else has done anything like this and how it was working for them.I am going to be doing some redecorating in my bath and thought about adding some storage space by cutting a hole in the wall and making a cabinet a little bigger than a full length mirror.I would be using the space between the wall joist or possibly a litle larger and reframe the wall.Attach small shelves and add a plywood door and use a router on the edges.I know the shelves would only be about 3 1/2 inches wide but that is wide enough to hold most things I was thinking of painting the door the same as the walls and putting my full lenght mirror on the door. I don't like the idea of the hanging storage pockets.I want to hide all the stuff from view.
Am I able to claim a filing cabinet for Tax file/receipts Storage purposes? It's actually quite cheap not really worth the effort, but I am having an arguement with a friend; would like to know who will win. It is not for business, it's for personal income tax filing. What I mean is, we probably need to keep receipts and the tax filing papers of some sort, or some tax rulings, or stocks or properties purchases or sales right? So would claiming a filing cabinet for personal under such reason be justifiable?
Kitchen cabinets and sockets? I' m preparing to move into a flat and the kitchen has no wall cabinets. I'm thinking of fitting some myself, but the available wall space has 4 different plug sockets. I've heard that you shouldn't (or can't) drill above sockets. Is there another way I can have cabinets? The kitchen is very small so I need as much storage space as possible.
Where can I throw old cabinets, beds, fridges, etc. away? My dad's been raking in the furniture in the house, replacing furniture after furniture. It's fine, but the problem is that he just stores (or in my opinion, dumps) the old furniture either in storage rooms in the house OR in the backyard where it gets rained on and rots. That, or he puts them in either his room or my room for "safe keeping" which in my opinion just procrastination. The bigger problem now is that he said he's getting new furniture for my small room. I don't need anymore, but I'm eager to get alot of stuff out of my room at the same time and not be stored anywhere in the house like what my dad does. Heck, I'd love it if I can dump it somewhere where it can get encinirated or something. I mean old cabinets, beds, etc. So are there any places where I can throw these bigger items away? From beds to cabinets to broken fridges, are there any places where I can dispose of them? Is it free? If not, how much will it cost?
My room is too small and I have too much furniture - Storage ideas? I want to make it seem bigger without getting rid of anything. We don't have a basement or attic to put anything in. My bedroom is only a little bigger than my grandmother's walk-in closet. My furniture: Twin bed Nightstand CD rack (the size of a small bookshelf) Desk Stool 2 filing cabinets Dresser Table (where I keep schoolbooks and stuff) 2 bookshelves Kitty litterbox Chair The room is really tiny... There is no closet (so there are clothes all over the place), and slanted ceilings make it so I can't have shelves. I also have lots of boxes stacked all over the place full of random stuff with no home. I need some attractive storage solutions that won't make my room look any smaller. You name it, I've got it, and need to find a place for it. I know it sounds like I need to get rid of some stuff, but I really use almost everything I have. I have lived here for 7 years, but I am fed up with the mess and the fact that I don't have enough space. PLEASE help!!

is there a web site or someone who can help me decide how to fix a problem with my kitchen cabinets? our kitchen is in a small mobile home and the corner cabinet between the stove and the sink is huge but the opening is only 8 inches in each way. The stuff I manage to get in I have great difficulty getting out. We tried taking the cabinet door off but it didn't help much. We have very little storage so this is a big problem. We are going to do the work ourselves. We just need some ideas. Please help

How to work with an oblong open LR/DR & kitchen area? Late 70's/early 80's ranch with the lost, forgotten, long, useless hallway in center of house, running almost length of house. You enter the front door into the LR. (Look way...left, you can see Kit. sink/window at far end of house) On Left of LR is DR area (in same oblong room). On the DR's Left side wall is a dbl. doorway opening, into a u shaped kitchen (?thinking of removing this doorway & remaining wall, for 1 long room?) (used to have french doors there). Cabinets are on each side of the sink/window wall. The Left side wall has counter, stove, counter & frig. The right side wall has dishwshr, bar/storage & cabinets (?Take this R. side out? Maybe an island in open part of the U to divide up?) Hard to describe. GOAL: A LR/DR/kit combo thats open, airy and loses the "country" feeling and moves towards a more formal feeling (if that's even possible?) I'm no good at decorating & want to keep expenses at minimum.
Know where I can find a good wood-grain toy cabinet? I am looking for a good wood-grain storage cabinet to house my daughter's toys and keep them out of view when she's not playing with them. The ideal unit would be 36"H x 30"W x 20" deep. Any suggestions and links would be appreciated. http://miltizme.blogspot.com
I need some storage ideas for over a thousand viitmin bottles and supplements and herb tinctures.? they are all over the house and too hard to take some as they are disorganized and if I store in cabinets I can't see the label and no room in medicine cabinet as other stuff in there. what is a good way to store them and would hold a lot in the smallest space..it is hard to find shelves that narrow and they don't stack well. The supplements are in various size bottle s and the tinctures are brown glass bottles with eye dropper top..also nee a way to easily find what the supplement is used for..maybe a master list or something. Thanks. (ps--do not suggest throwing out if over a year old as there is tons of money invested in this stuff that I don't take and want to start so if you can suggest a way to remember to take some of them three times a day, I would appreciate it.
What would you do if your reception hall had a failed inspection from the health department...? ...a week before your wedding? My cousin's wedding is next week. My mom just saw this in the paper about her reception hall: Critical Violations 7-19-07 July 19, 2007, 12:13 pm When the Health Department checked out the Polish Falcons this week, they found a total of 3 critical code violations. The inspector found mouse droppings and cockroaches. The mice "evidence" as the inspector puts it was found in a storage cabinet for dishes. The inspector found those cockroaches in the building's basement. They told the Polish Falcons to call an exterminator right away. They got another critical for food temperatures. A walk-in cooler was holding at 45-degrees. That's above the 41-degrees considered safe for potentially hazardous foods. They told the Polish Falcons to 'throw out' the food in that cooler and stop using it until it's fixed. The third critical concerns storage. The inspector found toxic chemicals stored above food service utensils. They told workers to move the toxic items and clean off the utensils that had been underneath. I am thinking that maybe we should stop at Subwa before the reception!
English help....? Which of the following is correct? 1. To keep children away from dangerous chemicals, lock them in a storage cabinet. 2. In Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, he dramatizes the story of a woman treated as a plaything. 3. The supervisor explained to the employee that he would be transferred soon. 4. All of the above. 5. None of the above. I know 1 and 3 are incorrect so therefore 5 is not right either.. but I am unsure if number 2 is correct or if it is none of these... Thanks for any help!
How long should I store wine and champagne? I have been mildly collecting--not spending more than around 50 bucks or so--wine and champagne for about ten years. They mainly decorate my storage cabinet. I'm sure the wine is o.k., but I do not know much about champagne?
How can I get my children and my husband to listen to me and follow house rules? I work full-time night shift and have assigned chores for my family. My children pretend like they do their chores but really don't. My husband doesn't help at all and pretends like he does. I will be spending my entire Saturday cleaning house while my family is at a gathering. I am finding the most awful filth. I went outside to water flowers and found a pair of my shoes that had been missing, they were buried in mud. I found an opened can of fruit cocktail on the kitchen counter behind some dirty glasses. I found hamburger grease in a bowl in the kitchen sink. I found dirty clothes and trash and toys under one of the bathroom sinks. You can't walk through my daughter's bedroom. She makes us late for events because she can't ever find her clothes or accessories. I found trash and aluminum cans and dirty dishes and newspapers and lots of house clutter stuffed in a storage cabinet. If I open any of my kitchen cupboards all the pans or plastic or metal items will fall out. I work twelve hour shifts and they always extend to longer, ex. 12.5 with the thirty they tack on for lunch and 30 min. extra expected before shift starts, 1 hour commute one-way only, 1 hour to get ready for work, including children getting ready and dropping them at activities leaves about 6 hours avg. to sleep. This occurs three times in a row a week and during this time, Pippy Longstockings comes out of the TV and creates havoc that takes days to clean up, in between running children to activities and trying to have a life on daytime hours for a night-working person. Mrs. who called me a pig couldn't keep up with this routine I'm sure. Also to Mrs. who called me a pig, if I am to act like a mother and a wife then I would get to stay home and the husband would act like a husband and a father and be a better provider and take care of the yard and the vehicles and the bills, and enforce discipline, etc.
How can I keep my office uncluttered with limited storage space? I am a manager of a school office. My office is 8 x 12 with 2 "full" 4drawer lateral files, two upper cabinets with doors and I large shelf above my L shaped desk. I have no windows. How can I better utilize the space I have to make my office "seem" uncluttered? I want my office to look presentable when dealing with parents, but it always feels so cluttered and messy.
What color couch would look good with a light wood coffee table? the coffee table is actually light wood color but with some laquer on it to make it look a bit orangey-red. (sorri dont know what the color is actually called.) i need to go get a couch and dont know what color to get. my tv/media storage cabinet is same color as coffee table, carpet is cream and walls are white.
Question on countertops......? I am thinking of replacing the countertops in my kitchen. Currently the same style/color countertop that is in my kitchen is also in both the guest bathroom and the master bath. My home has the same cabinetry in the kitchen, and as the vanity in the guest/hall bath as well as the vanity and storage cabinet in the master bath. The original countertops are in good shape but are of very cheep material. When the decision comes to changing the kitchen, should I also match both bathrooms with the same countertops as the cabinetry is all the same. Or will it look alright to have one choice in the kitchen and another in the bathrooms? Ok all you decorators...what should I do?
Most cost efficiant ways to make a home more valuable while living there? I live in a fairly spacious two bed, two bath, upstairs condo with a porch, but plan on having another kid in a few years so I will need to be able to sell this place, and I would love to both make it a better experience while I'm here, and worth more money. Currently, I have light baise-ish carpets in the bedrooms and living room and up the stairs, linoleum floors, stark white cabinets that look unfinished (I need to ad hardware, thats cheap enough) double sinks in the bathroom with a large mirror and no room for cabinets/storage, no shelving in the to-small laundry room, and ugly light fictures/fans all around. One thing I KNOW I'm doing is getting film to put over the windows to block UV and lower utility costs, but other then that which things will I be able to do while still here, which will reap the most profit, and which wont make much difference? Thank you
