Diy Laminate Flooring Questions

DIY - Laminate Flooring Problem? I wonder if someone could help me. I've fitted new laminated flooring on the ground floor but I'm having trouble finding something to cover the gap between the laminate and the base of the staircase. Our stairs are round, not square at the corner. Is there anything flexible enough to bend it around the bottom step?
I want to DIY laminate floor in my kitchen, is it as easy as cut and glue? Lowes and Home Depot (no offence, love them!) want just about as much for labor as they do the laminate. They don't remove the old, just glue and lay the new on top. They do come out to measure, for a small fee, and will cut to size, so is this something I can do just as good as them? Any tips if so?
Hardwood laminate flooring- need a good DIY website? I want to install some of this myself, and would like to find a website where I can maybe download a do-it-yourself lesson,. Thanks!
Noise Associated with Laminate Flooring - can anyone help me resolve this huge noise problem? I live in a 2 bed modern semi, both myself and my neighbour have laminate flooring throughout our homes. Unfortunately lifestyle habits have created noise pollution for me. I have the thickest underlay, rugs & wear slippers. I don't bang doors or stomp about but they do! They'e driving me insane, they start their nonsense at 11pm until 3am, it's like they live with me! I already wear earplugs but can still hear them. I need a DIY answer to resolve the problem ie is there anything I can spray (eg loft/cavity insulation)into the floor spaces? There are 13 & 9 yr old boys running around from teatime which I fully understand and am patient about but once 11pm arrives, it just so unfair.
Can you get filler and / or varnish for laminate flooring? Hello. I've laid down some laminate flooring (the glueless floating type) and realised I've made slightly the wrong decision - it's a bit too light coloured. So I wondered - can you get varnish specifically for laminate flooring in order to darken it a bit? I would imagine you cannot use normal varnish due to the coating of it (or can you?). Also, I'm a bit crap at D.I.Y. and have not laid it too well in parts (I got the hang of it eventually) and now that I'm alright at it, the cracks in my first rows are really annoying me. However, I'm not gonna pull the whole thing up again, so I wondered, is there a filler you can use to fill the cracks? I'm assuming you can't use normal filler, due to the fact it's on the floor and people walk on it etc. Or can I? If anyone knows the products I'm looking for please name the products! As I have already done searches on DIY websites and come up with nothin... PS I'm in the UK Thanks for your help in advance!
Laminate Flooring ? Hi ! I'm looking for a site or sites online where I can find some good, easy to follow instructions on laying a laminate floor in a bathroom - I am not a very good DIY'er but am prepared to have a go - all help and advice appreciated. Cheers Andrew
Has anyone used Bruce Lock & Fold DIY hardwood flooring? I am putting hardwood floors in a space that is approximately 600 square feet. This is hardwood, but it fits together like laminate. It looks easy to install (from the manufacturer's demo video). Is it good quality? Please tell me if you have had any experience with this product. Thanks!
[UK] Best DIY Book on the market.? I recently bought my first house. Unfortunately it has carpet all over. So I am planning to change it to laminate flooring. So I am looking for a DIY book which will help me to manage laminate flooring as well as other DIY topics. What do you recommend?

Could someone tell me how much it will cost & recommend a good trade person to me. Installing Laminate Floor Yourself? I know it is described as an easy DIY task, but can you really do it yourself, or would it be best for a first-timer to have a place like Home Depot install laminate wood floors? I'm not scared to try something myself, but what are the tools I will need and is there a training video or something on the web I can watch? I'm trying to save money, and avoiding installation charges seem like the best way to save. Have you installed this floor before? What is your advice?
Flooring Costs? Just looking for a rough estimate, but how much would new flooring (laminate or cheap hardwood) cost for a 900 sq foot home? DIY cost, but as well, if we hired a contractor. The floors are in an OLD log home and are uneven. Obviously this will be more costly. Better to get a pro to do it in this case?
Does laminate floor need to be glued down? I'm fitting the floor in my sons bedroom, the guy in the DIY store talked me through it and sold me what I needed. When I got home and read the fitting kit, it says the boards need to be glued together, but the guy said it didn't. Now I'm confused! Please help. ...Ok I checked the packaging, it says it clicks together. The other thing I'd been reading was a separate package which had the spacers and pulling bar etc. in it. I'm a fool! Thanks so much for all your help guys :) I'm all set now, got the underlay, got the boards, got the energy?.... nah I'll do it tomorrow! = D
What kind of kitchen floor should I install-DIY? When I bought my house the kitchen had ceramic tile, which I thought was great...until the grout started cracking because it's not level. Now I have several tiles I can actually pull up out of the floor. I want to just rip it out and start over (which won't be hard at all...all I have to do is pull at it and more will come up). I need some ideas for some inexpensive solutions that won't involve too much ripping out of subflooring and will be relatively quick to install. I want to keep with the 50's retro feel I have going and that's period to the house, also. I was thinking laminate black and white or the idustrial kind of tile, but I wasn't sure if it would work with the unlevel subfloor. Any ideas on how to either install it without leveling the subfloor, or how to level the subfloor without ripping it all out? Anything would help... Thanks!
Need to be cheered up - dodgy DIY accidents? Been DIY-ing today and realised cant do anything without getting injured. Today it was my toe. The other day I hammered the end of my little finger off while laying laminate.......there was blood splatter everywhere all over the nice new floor.....CSI would have had a field day. Anyone else had accidents while doing DIY?
Looking for advice on redoing side entry and stairs up and down? I have a landing with 3 stairs up to the main floor then 10 steps down to the basment. I have some ugly carpet there now and I want to make it look more friendly. I heard tile is bad for stairs, fall risk plus it can crack easily. I was thinking of laminate flooring. Anybody have any other ideas? or cool diy website that has step by step procedures? thanks in advance. Mark
how many square metres in 12ft by 12 ft? hia could any of you diy buffs tell me how many square feet i will need ,the room is 12ft by 12ft. its for laminate flooring. cheers
I have a split level home built in 1986. What changes can I make to update it and increase my resale value? Upper Level - 1 master with small 3/4 bath; 2 guest bdrms; 1 full bath Mid Level - front room and kitchen Lower Level - office; 3/4 bath; and family room with fireplace. We recently had a new roof and siding put on and plan on landscaping the front for "curb-appeal" in the spring. In the meanwhile, we were hoping to get some ideas on how to spruce up the house DIY style. Initial thoughts are: 1) Replacing vinyl flooring in all bathrooms with ceramic tile. 2) Refinishing kitchen cabinetry (their all wood) 3) Putting in laminate wood flooring in kitchen. 4) Replacing appliances (they're all probably 10 years old) if there's money left. Any advice or other suggestions.
Hardwood Floors?? We are going to be redoing the floors in our new house. It's an older home and 1050 square feet. We would be redoing almost all of that square footage with hardwood, or whatever type of flooring. We are looking for something that is inexpensive and relatively easy to DIY. I've always figured hardwood flooring would be costly and require a pro, is this true? We might go for laminate, but don't think it will go with the feel of the house. Any suggestions?
How to lay a hardwood floor? We have a tongue and groove hardwood floor (not engineered or laminate). We would like to lay it ourselves and save some money. I thought we had to use a nailer, but am wondering if we can glue it instead? We are going to lay down felt and I saw a video on DIY network that showed showed them using glue on the tongue and grooves instead of nails. Does anyone know if this will work? Any good websites, videos or books? Thank you.
Any solutions for different floor levels at threshold of rooms? 1cm difference- Help!? I laid floorboards and when I got to the door found a big difference in thickness between laminate of hallway and boards of the room. Therefore cannot fit normal threshold strip and there is a trip hazard. DIY not my strong point!!
