Wood flooring installation cost? Thinking of having wood flooring (floating) installed. Got an estimate for about $11-12.00 per foot. This includes everything..installation, removing carpeting, etc. Is this a rightous estimate? Any help?
Darlington Oak Laminate Flooring Installation? I bought enough of this cheap laminate flooring from Lowe's to cover my small room. On the inside of the box it shows how shorter boards are placed next to longer boards to give a stepping effect. Is this required for this type of laminate or can they just be placed side by side? What is the salary for Flooring Installation labourers? Does anyone out there work for a contracting company or do you perhaps own your own flooring business and if so what wage do you get/what wage do you pay for your employees? Also to compare, please list the city/area you live in. Right now my spouse is employed at $18/hr but that isn't enough for all the work he does. He has worked gor his uncle for 18 years now and he is still only at $18/hr. I have had it! The business is the only flooring company in town and they get all the big contracts so my husband makes his uncle rich! Get this! The uncle is also the mayor of our town and owns the largest restaurant and hotel/beverage room and vendor! He doesn't even need the flooring business but he hangs onto it and why not when he doesn't have to do any physical labor! I have asked over and over for my husband to demand a raise but he won't. There are no benefits in the job either! We, his family are not covered should anything, God forbid, happen to him. Am I sounding greedy or does the situation give me right to vent about our situation? I am also employed full time but I make $15/hr and I work in an office. Shouldn't he get more than I do? What do ya all think?
Hardwood flooring installation? Im installing hardwood floor for the first time. I stripped the carpet and cushion and im down to the base boards now. However theres a section towards the end thats raised. Whats the best way to smooth it out so that the hardwood will look even during the install? Will a regular floor sander do the trick?
Approximate price of installation/sq ft of Pergo flooring in Southern California Area? Hi, I am planning to have new flooring installed in my condo. The approximate area of installation is 550 sq. ft (bedroom + living room + dining area). I have settled on laminate as my choice for flooring and decided to go with Pergo. I havent contacted any installers yet but just for reference purpose what do you guys think the installation costs (removing existing carpeting + installing laminate) should be (in terms of $/sq ft). I live in Inland empire area in Southern California thanks for your time.

Installation pricing on wood flooring? My wife and I recently purchased a 1300 sq. foot condo and plan on installing hard wood flooring in the living, dining & 3 bedrooms. Does anyone know how much it would cost to have a company install this type of product? I'm looking into the maple wood flooring.
Advice on installation of laminate flooring with 16" squares? Thanks to "garyomega". In our quest for HELP on the installation of these 16" laminate tiles my husband says, another problem is, once he starts his tiles in the center of the room, he will then have a problem where two tiles meet as he approaches the edges, due to this tongue and groove or "click and lock" style of floor. He had also been told to start along an outer edge of the room and work his way across, with not less than a 3" edge. Then of course, concerns as to the square aspect of the floor when completed. Also, this is a kitchen, to make matters worse. This is difficult to describe. Thanks for any advice!

Hardwood Floor Installation - How to Square multiple rooms? I will be installing my new hardwood floors next week. I realize that no room is perfectly square and you need to compensate for the unsquareness of the room with your first cut. But, the majority of my installation will be in rooms that all flow together, ie no doorways. I prefer not to stop laying hardwood between rooms in order to square each individual room... Any solutions? Thanks.
Questions regarding bamboo flooring installations.? I am scheduled to install a bamboo floor throughout a ladies entire house minus a bathroom and a half bath (1825 sf) and she wants it done wihtout any t-moldings anywhere except where it touchs the tile of the 2 baths. The longest point on the width is 42ft which I plan to use the spacers and the length is 62ft. The layout of the house is such that it is not contiguous across the 62ft however my concern with her is having areas where the material will not be wide enough to actually work with, ie. a 1/8th sliver of wood to be against the wall. Has anybody done this and any suggestions on how to make her understand why the t-moldings are needed. Her concerns are purely aestetic because it is steam carbonized bamboo and the t-moldings are a deeper color than the flooring. HELP PLEASE!!!
Preparing concrete slab for floating floor installation? I have a slab foundation that I would like prep for a floating floor. There are two opening in the room to attached rooms. The foundations of the two rooms are not level with each other. Previous owner tried to fill in and slope down with concrete filler for transition between surfaces, but left a very rough and uneven transition. Can I sand or grind the the openings for smoother transition....with what? Will that work when preping for floating floor style flooring?
What to do about bad ceramic tile floor installation? My husband tore out our old ceramic tile floor in a very large area (kitchen, breakfast room, laundry room, and entry hall) and then cleaned the subfloor until it was perfectly smooth (hard work and messy). We hired a guy to replace the tile, and he did a HORRIBLE job - many of the tiles are not attached to the subfloor (hollow sound when you tap them), they are not level or straight, and the grout is a mess. When we had him come back to fix it, it only got worse. There are tiles that cannot be "glued" down without being much higher than the tiles around them because he did not start at the highest point in the room or float the subfloor. What can we do about this without completely tearing out the tile again? Can we lay a "floating" floor over the tile? If so, what type of flooring, what would you put down under the floor, and what do you do about the fact that it would then be higher than the surrounding carpeted areas? We had this done over a year ago. I don't want to take him to small claims court, as I have already expended way too much emotional energy on this. I learned a valuable lesson about going in person to inspect a contractor's previous work and calling multiple references with similar jobs....The guy admitted AFTER the fact that he hadn't done a job that large before.
Does form underlayment hurt on a hardwood floor installation? I'm installing a nail down solid hardwood floor over a plywood subfloor. There are some minor imperfections on the subfloor and would like some type of underlayment to help with the imperfections and any potential sqeaking. Would putting a thin form underlayment (type used with laminent flooring) hurt the solid hardwood? Sorry - meant FOAM underlayment.
Floor tile installation? When they talk about a level floor, before installation, how smooth should that levelling be. I have done my sub-floor, put down backerboards, and done my leveling. I have done my dry-run with the tiles, but with some of the them when I press on one corner the pposite end of tiles lifts up slightly, like about 1/16 of an inch
Doors and Floor installation? I have sub-floors in my condo and want to put in a hardwood floor and replace the interior doors. Should I install the new doors first before the new floor, or, the floors first then the doors? Thanks, M

Hardwood floor installation? I'm interested in installing hardwood floors in my living room and dining room area (carpet there now). But I'm afraid my dog (85 lb chocolate lab) will scratch them up. Will that happen? Are there alternatives? I've heard of Pergo, but not sure what that is.
What does professional wood-floor installation entail? I am debating refinsihing my own wood floors versus having a professional come in and put new ones on top (at $4/sq. ft. installed). I am wondering if we would have to move our own furniture for professionals and other things I could expect or not expect from having the pros do it vs. having me learn how to refinish existing floors.
