Wireless Home Security Monitoring System? What is the best Wireless Home Security Monitoring System w/ siren... one that would monitor all windows & doors including Garage. I've seen ads for ADT, Brinks, GE. Looking for the best system, and ease of installation. (Not sure an installer is necessary or if do it yourselves are just as good.)
How Safe Are Wireless Home Security Systems? Are wireless home security systems safe? Info from the Brickhouse Security say "Wireless Home Security Systems are fully wireless and have built-in power supplies; even if the phone, power and Internet connections are down, your Wireless Home Security System will continue to monitor and protect your property. This feature will come in handy if an intruder cuts the power and phone lines, or there is a blackout and burglars are on the prowl." Does this mean that the system has its own cell-phone built-in or uses a satellite so it could notify the PD and if so doesn't a burglar need nothing but a signal disrupter? No I'm not a burglar, just curious in how it works and how safe it really is. We all know if you have an alarm set to the phone-line someone can cut the lines, if you have digital phone someone can just turn the power off your house, or do both. So can a disrupter knock out the system signals? The real question is, "How safe are any Home Security Systems?"
Could a home security system interfere with my home theater system? I recently installed a wireless home security systems (ADT), and now I am noticing a clicking emanating from my home theater system. I am wondering if it is caused by the new security, and if so, how can I fix it? A bit of detail on the clicking: it is similar to, but not the same as, the phone interference caused by certain (GSM) phones.

Home Wireless Security camera interference w/Network? I just bought a wireless security camera system for home. The signal is transmitted via 2.4Ghz signal to the receiver which is output to the VCR for recording. Problem is that it knocks out my internet wireless network which is also running on 2.4Ghz. Is there any way to work around this? My only option I can think of is to plug all my PCs via ethernet cable.
Is it possible to purchase a home security system and not pay a monthly fee, and where can I purchase one? I just bought a new house that is pre-wired for a home security system. I would like to have one installed but don't want to pay a monthly fee. Basically I just want a system that will start an alarm if someone were to break in. I don't need a company to monitor it. I also don't want a wireless system. I have looked all over the internet and all the systems have a monthly monitoring fee. And if they don't have a monthly fee they are wireless.

Do anybody have experience with the required wireless equipment update by home security monitoring company? I subscribed to monitoring service with a Home Security Monitoring company. I have wireless security equipment installed. Recently they told me that the government require them to replace the analog radio tower system with digital radio tower system. This results in I need to replace my wireless security equipment as well, otherwise it won't be able to connect to the new radio tower. They charged me $100 for that. Since I'm still in a contract with them, I think I shouldn't pay that $100. So, do anybody have experience in this matter? Is the new regulation for real? Do the customers really have to pay for that required upgrade by the government regulation even when they're still in a contract? Thanks! I appreciate any inputs.
Can you build you own home security system? Installing the cameras, sensors, wires, etc and then connecting it all to a main computer and then set up the wireless alerting devices - notifying you and then the police department? Is this a difficult project but worthwhile since there is no need for a monthly fee that you pay with other security systems?
Home security Question.? I want a home security system for house flippers. 1) I want to be able to setup a combination of wireless and wired devices. 2) I want to setup hidden motion detectors, microphones and speakers. 3) Hook up a hard or Cell line to the system. 4) if something triggers an alarm i want be called and be able to: a) have my phone ring and tell me which sensor was triggered b) Be able to listen on the system microphones. c) Be able to forward my voice through the system to a room in the house to give the appreance that someone is home. d) Activate Lights on in the house to give the appearance of someone being home. e) possible even monitor the system or forward video through the internet. 5) This system should be designed to be easily hidden, installed and moved to another location. Does this system exist. If it does exist please provide some details, IE a company website. Please refrain from usless smart ass answers.
120v X10 system ok to use in 230v Europe with transformer ? I purchased some X10 equipment (home security, from X10.com) while in the States, to use here in Austria, Europe. Most of the equipment is wireless, but the "Console for DW7000 Security System" is 120v, 60 Hz, 6 watts. 1) Will X10 equipment designed for 120v, 60Hz environment work in a 230 v, 50 Hz environment, with a transformer? 2) I have a Step Down Coverter (model LLD50U, mfr?) that says: "Output: 110/120V AC 60Hz for Electric Products up to 50 Watts, to be used with all fax machines Panasonic, Toshiba, Canon, Sharp." how can I limit the wireless connection.. not any laptop? actually i just got the ADSL connection at home and I got the wireless modem...the modem extends to a very wide range and I don't want the neighbors to tak the advantage of that connection...so that i want to know the exact steps to limit the connection..I know that it might be relevant to a secuity certificate or something like that...I have my university network security certificate but i didn't know how to utlize it for home connection.....my system is win XP home edition...I will be thankful if you can show me the exact steps ?

Could someone help me with a problem with my Dell laptop? I have a linksystem that I use at home for my laptop. When my bosses went to Japan, one of the bosses entered an security code into my computer using a USB to enable me to use the wireless system at work. Now that I am on vacation and am home, my laptop no longer recognizes my linksystem at home, and it also gave me a message that it was also no longer able to use the wireless system at work either. How do I stream movies to guests via a wireless network? I run a mid-sized hotel (56 rooms) and I'd like to set up a system where guests can stream movies from my computer/server to theirs for a small fee. I figure this would be far easier and more efficient than renting movies. Security is probably my greatest issue, as well as the fact that my only experience is setting up a small home network. realtek rtl8139 nic driver not recognized? i have a gateway mx3228 laptop with the realtek rtl8139 nic card. all was well once upon a time. i loaded windows vista beta 2 on the machine, decided i didnt like it, so i formatted the drive, reinstalled xp pro, and lo and behold, my wireless nic wont load. it is recognized by the system, but the drivers i have for it will not load. they are definitely the right drivers, before you ask. the only difference at this point is that when the device worked, it was under xp home, now i have xp pro, which is just Home with more security, same kernel, same core sys. tried tried tried, now i am wiping drive again, reinstalling home to see if that works, but i strongly doubt it. any help will be awesomely appreciated.
