plumbing supply three years ago sold me a heater that is 20 years old? three or more years ago in august of 2003 i purchased a gas heater from a plumbing supply ; i had trouble with it from the beginning... now this years trying to buy parts and a service manual i have been informed the heater is obselete and that the unit is over 20 years. old.. but the description the dealer gave me was for a different model than he sole ,me... i cant buy parts.. and it is dangerous to use..i CALLED him and after a 2 hour conversation.. he said i had it three years.. and in so many words he said he was unwilling to do anything... also i found some one had been in the heater and did some welding... which is not susposed to be done on a gas appliance.. i found all this out when i e mailed the williams heater company and gave then the model number i was susposed to have... when i got the manual 45 pages. nothing matched.. then i found a tag inside the heater. with a different model than he indicated on the papers he gave me after three years is there any thing i can do
plumbing problem? I'm new at this and haven't been clear, sorry so, here goes. For 8 years all was fine at home, recently hot water began coming from the cold water tap in the upstairs bathroom sink, there are two handles (hot & cold). We haven't changed any plumbing in the house. The hot comes out for about the first ten seconds then it goes back to cold. The toilet has one shut off valve and the water in the bowl is warm, always has been and the previous owner told me it is that way to keep the tank from sweating. We located one mixing valve, took a close up pic. and brought it to the plumbing supply, they told us they never saw that type, we did not change it. What could be wrong?
plumbing supply? Im putting in an underground waterline, and need a product that has a low voltige heater line incorperated into the line. If anyone knows the name of this product, please let me know. Thanks

NEW plumbing to install a kitchen? I am building a kitchen in what is currently an unfinished basement suite in my house. How important is the actual placement of the sink and dishwasher as they relate to the water supply lines and drains? The kitchen upstairs is on the same wall (west side of the house) but the kitchen downstairs will be about 20 feet to the left of the one upstairs. Is it easy to run the water lines over there? What do I need to keep in mind when planning my cupboards/sink location? Is there a vent somewhere that I need to work around? If I buy the cabinets and appliances and install everything, could any plumber hook up, re-route and create water supply and plumbing/drains to match where I put everything? The walls are already insulated and drywalled, but I can rip it off to deal with lines and drains if need be . The ceiling is finished with rectangular tile things, so access should be no problem that way either. What all do I need to consider before buying cabinets and planning design?
Plumbing: slow leak in supply pipe? Is there a product, spray on or otherwise, that I can buy commercially to fix a slow leak from an old pipe? There is apprx. one drip every couple minutes. I would need to apply this product directly to the spot on the pipe. This would save me the major expense of having to replace the pipe.
About plumbing? At the moment the washing machine is plumbed into kitchen under sink. We are moving it to an area behind the down stairs tiolet under the stairs. Is it ok to plumb it from the pipes supplied to downstairs sink/tiolet?
plumbing/repiping galvanized with galvanized? Hi all,I have a not so severe plumbing predicament that I will like to repair myself. My hot water pressure/flow has reduced in the kitchen/bathroom.In the kitchen, when I tap the pipes full pressure runs out for a minute with rust or brown colored water then it slows back up.Runs good for sometime for a couple of weeks on and off.The pipes sre galvanized and are not long runs being a small house. This started when a hotwater heater that was removed and replaced with a new one. It was so full of sediment that it backed up thru the pipes. There has been repair and water shut off before and this has never happened so I know it was the tank.the cold water pressure is fine.I would like to know if changing the supply lines will fix the the problem temporary or permanently? Do I need to change every section of the supply lines or part of it? thanks all
I replaced all of my plumbing and now I have really low water pressure, what happened? I replaced all of the plumbing in my house with new 3/4 inch copper. It was 1/2 before. I replaced the water heater at the same time and one sink/faucet. All of the supply lines are 3/4 which are connected to faucets by 3/8 ID supply lines, and to the washing machine and tub/shower by 1/2 inch copper. All of the valves are new ball valves to include the ones at the supply lines to the faucets. Yes, I have checked and all of the valves are fully open. Now I can hardly take a shower my pressure is so low. What happened? The pressure is not just low in the shower, it is low at all fixtures.
I have a plumbing question.? Almost every time I have some plumbing done in my basement, the plumber looks at the water meter in my basement and says that the pressure relief valve in my cold water supply line needs replaced. I let a plumber do it a couple of years ago and I watched how he adjusted it with a wrench. This last plumber did not even try and adjust it down to a lower flow, he just said it needed replaced and the last time it was 110.00. So I am wondering if this is a common plumbing ruse to get money from homeowners, especially since the master plumber who replaced our boiler two years ago did not see a problem with it. I really only want an answer from someone who knows for sure, and thanks in advance.
How do I stop my plumbing from rattling? When my dishwasher is turned on, the house plumbing in the vicinity rattles violently. Turning on the nearby kitchen faucet attenuates the rattling slightly. The dishwasher is hooked up to the HOT water supply. This does not occur anywhere else except in a bathroom where the COLD water faucet caused some juddering when opened fully.
How much to fit all plumbing to new house? Anyone know how much it would cost to complete all the plumbing to a new house from scratch. Including, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, all central heating to all rooms including 5 bedrooms. Also to include fitting and installing a cooker and boiler to run on oil (no gas to the property) including supplying and installing the gas tank. Rough prices really helpful thanks Can I add that I am capable of doing this myself but I do not have the time. Additionally this is in a house that I am planning to sell on when finished, it needs to be all professionally done. Anything I do would have teething problems as I am not an experienced professional. I am not going to do it myself.
Plumbing Old Drain Connections. . .? I am looking to re plumb a bathroom in an old house. Water supply is copper pipe, and the drain is a 1-1/2 or 2" thick walled pipe (maybe galvanized?) with NPT connections. When I run a new sink and shower can I run PVC drains? Is there an adapter to fit PVC to metal drains?
Where can I find o-ring seal around London? My espresso machine requires new o-ring rubber (or silicone, I don't know) seal. It's not a stove-top device for which plenty of seals available online. It's Woolworths own brand - Elevation and they say they don't have any spares for it. I was pretty happy with the machine while it was working so I don't want to buy a new one if 15 pence seal is the solution. The problem is that I cannot describe exactly what I need (the seal itself is not just a plain ring). I need to bring the old seal to a store with large range of o-ring seals on sale and say "I want to replace this one". Is there such a store in London? I tried DIY and plumbing supplies, but they weren't able to help me. R-r-right. Thanlks for the answers, but let me clarify: I'm looking for retail store where I could come in and ask for "this thing". I have found a bunch of o-ring suppliers that will be happy to manufacture a seal up to my specifications and sell me a pack of 45000. That's not exactly what I need. Search for "industrial supply gaskets London" yields pretty much nothing useful. Thanks in advance! Guys, you are great! Thanks a lot for the feedback! I think I need to clarify again: it's far from being just "o-ring", it is plain on one side and round on the other, it has a slit along the middle for a metal thing to fit into and a whole lot of features that are hard for me to explain. I tried to picture it, but the images are quite unclear and my drawing skills are limited. It's likely that I'll be able to transform an usual o-ring into something that would fit for the purpose, but I'm not sure about that and that's why I'd like to show the thing to a specialist first. Anyway, if plane o-ring could be used for this machine, it would be of 2''24 outer diameter and 2'' inner diameter ring suitable for food processing, able to handle high temperatures and pressure (15 bar). P.S. I will visit Pirtek, they are close. Thanks for the hint!
What changes could come from changing my plumbing pipes? My water supply comes in through a 3/4" pipe and then shrinks to a 3/8" pipe that supplies water to my faucets, tub, washer, etc. If I change the pipes to be consistently 3/4" will I be able to have: Better water pressure? Better water distribution (to avoid lack of pressure when showering and having the washer running simultaneously)? Also, if pressure is increased, provided all other fixtures remain the same (and that the time spent using water [i.e. a 10 minute shower] does not change), will my water consumption increase and cause my water bill to potentially increase?
Need advice on how to break the ice? Ok so I had this crush on a girl in high school. But I am very shy just like I was in high school. I hardly ever talked to her. I just let it be and went on thinking there was nothing going for us. So I haven't seen her in 4 or so years. The other day I was at a Plumbing Supply store (for my job as a plumbers assistant). She works at that plumbing supply store and I was wondering how to start from square one? Please real answers hear! Don't flame me.
Can a drop-in sink be undermounted? Need quick help! I am installing new granite tile on my wet bar. I currently have an ugly drop-in stainless steel sink with the faucet mounted on the sink. I like the cleaner, more modern look of undermounting. A plumbing supply person told me the old sink can be undermounted since the faucet holes are already drilled and that this will give the same look as an undermounted sink. My tile installer didn't suggest this but I also didn't ask him. The plumbing supply guy said my tile guy doesn't know his stuff if he doesn't know this can be done. If this is easily done, I can save myself about $200 on a new undermount wet bar sink. Can it be done? Any issues to be aware of?
SharkBite fittings on gray polybutylene pipe? I recently used a SharkBite fitting on 3/4" gray polybutylene per the recommendation of my plumbing supply store. The store is new to the SharkBite line and I just recieved a spec sheet from the store but it does not mention that you can use the fittings on polybutylene. Does anyone know it it is OK or do I need to redue this repair?
How do I connect a US water filter to an Irish kitchen tap? My wife and I moved from the US to Ireland. Just before we came, my wife bought a water filter to use over here in Ireland. It has several bits that allows it to be attached to different sized kitchen taps. (It's the type of filter that sends water from the tap through the filter and out a separate spigot on the side.) But none of the connector bits fit into the kitchen tap we have here. I went to a plumbing supply place in Dublin and was told there was nothing that could connect the two because US and European standards for plumbing fixtures are different. Basically what I need is a doodad that screws onto my Irish kitchen type on one side and onto my US-made water filter on the other -- and forms a leakproof seal. Any suggestions? What is Graingers and how do I find it? It's not coming up when I search in google. Oops, found it - www.grainger.com. I'll check it out.
How much could it possibly cost to replace the plumbing in a 1k square foot house? It's not that big of a house. The previous owner's stripped the copper piping from under the house. (that's another side question.. isn't copper only found in older houses?) I have some friends in this business that will work for $10/hr to get the work done. But how long could it possibly take? I can finance all the supplies that will be needed.. just the labor is starting to freighten me. It has 1 bathroom.

Problem below? ACME Plumbing Supply has just received a shipment of 5,000 stainless steel valves for chemical plants, where regular steel valves would corrode. However, it is known that in the shipment, 250 of the values are regular steel which were inadvertently included. Unfortunately there was no way to distinguish between the two types of valves. At the same time, ACME receives an emergency order for 5 of the stainless steel valves from one of its largest customers. If ACME fills the order, what is the probability that one or more will be a regular steel valve? a)What distribution will be used? b)What are the parameters of this distribution and their values? c)Represent the question as a probability statement. d)Calculate the probability.
How do I cook a beef brisket? I have a beef brisket. My husband had some at a shindig at one of the plumbing supply houses. He doesn't liked boiled corned beef and cabbage, but this he liked. He thinks it was baked he said it was tender, but he doesnt know what spices or how to cook. Does anyone have any simple recipes with ingredients you normally have in the house. I dont have any beer. Any Ideas?.
ST-5 Water Heater Expansion Tank? A plumber came today to fix something, and he told me that I need to replace the water heater ST-5 expansion tank (I think it is 2 gallon size), since there is no air in there any more. The house was built in 2001. A friend of mine said he can do it for me. Questions: 1) What brand is a good brand to buy? I went to internet, it seems to point to Amtrol THERM-X-TROL ST-5 Expansion Tank, Model Number - ST-5. 2) Any plumbing supply company you recommend? I saw on ebay sell this brand for $32. Also at PlumberSurplus.com, sell it for $49 3) Do I need to buy any other accessories, when this tank is to be replaced? Such as connector or valve? What size? and what brand? 4) Anything else that I need to pay attention to? Thanks for your help!!
Would like to know if a repair collar is available for a vent pipe roof flashing? My vent pipe flashings are leaking due to cracking of the rubber donut which slips over the pvc vent pipe. The metal flashings are fine, only a couple years old, but the rubber is badly deteriorated. A web search mentioned that a repair collar is made to slip over the vent pipe so that you do not have to tear up the shingles to replace the entire metal unit. I have checked with plumbing supply houses but no one has heard of it. Does anyone know the manufacturers name of this repair collar or where I could buy it.
Where can I find a replacement basin nut.? I removed my kitchen faucet (8 inch single-handle faucet with sprayer) and somehow lost the nut that attaches underneath the sink to hold the faucet in place. I'm pretty sure it's called a basin nut but I've searched and searched online so that I can order one but can't find the part. The pipe it threads around is 3 1/2 cm. or 1 6/16 in. If I remember it was a hex nut. Anyway, Does it go by another name than basin nut? Better yet, where can I order one. I tried lots of plumbing supply sites but can't find the part. What should I be looking for?
Is working as a Purchasing Specialist a good entry level job for an Economics major? I wouldn't be asking this question, but I am so hesitant because it is for a field that does not deal with what I want to do (business/finance). If i get this job, I'd be working for a electric plumbing supply company working as a purchasing specialist where I have to forecast how many goods we need to purchase based on past sales and such. Also I would have to make sure the company is getting the best, most competitive deal out there from their purchases. I might be overanalyzing this. Can someone please help? Thanks.
