plumbing tool advise please? i purchased a used ridgid portable chain vise, can anybody tell me what the receding ceiling brace part does? thank you
Is there a plumbing tool for this? I have a broken drain plug on my pool filter canister. It sheared off, so that I cannot use the bottom of it to unscrew the rest of the plug. It is hollow and smooth on the inside, threaded on the outside. Is there some kind of tool that can be used to unscrew the remainder of the broken piece? For example, when you break a light bulb, you can use a needle-nose pliers, spread open, to unscrew the metal base of the bulb -- I need something like that, but something that's really designed for that use, that can apply more pressure, to unscrew it from the inside. Any ideas? I'd love to go to Home Depot and ask for a "widget" of some sort, to save me the repair bill.
Do I need a permit or something to do some minor plumbing jobs...? I'm thinking to purchase a plumbing tool (electric snake)

Is there a tool to measure the slope of plumbing piping to see if it meets a code or specification? I am overseeing the construction of a building and am being told that some of the new plumbing piping does not meet the 1/4" to 10' or 1/8" to 10' slope that the Engineer specified based on the local City Plumbing Code. A plumber I talked to had mentioned that he thought there was a tool available that was a level that you could set the 1/4" or 1/8" to 10' slope and verify that the piping slope meets the code. Does anyone know of this tool and where to get it? I'd rather not do the measuring (with a tape measure and calulator) to verify the slope if there is an easier way. Thanks. Something like this: http://www.mytoolstore.com/starrett/level01.html but hopefully less expensive (thanks jaszzman for the search words) Yes, 1/4" and 1/8" in 1', not 10' (typo.)

Is there anyway to find out the layout of the plumbing under my basement? Having some plumbing issues of backup in the drain in the floor when using the washer. Had this issue before but from the kitchen sink is what made it overflow before (plumber for that time). I have a 25 foot snake and tried that and still some overflow. What to do now? I am trying to figure where all the pipes exactly go under the house before the street. Any suggestions would be great. Of course I am trying to save money. Oh and any thoughts of those pressure tools for $30 or so at the DIY stores? Thanks
A Plumb tool? (see pic)? In this pic (number 5 on diagram) it shows a plumb. When did they make these? Is there a place I can buy one? http://www.droit-humain.org/uk/Gallery/Collection/Plaques/12plaques/Plaque6.gif
Know of any good Wholesale companies? Looking for REAL wholesale companies. Any industry, ie: computers, games, dvd's, plumbing, tools, ect. Im looking for the REAL ones that sell to only resellers, and sell at REAL wholesale prices.
Nuclear physics? How complex is it? Why are other countries today (mostly terrorist states) struggling with it when in 1940's we (U.S.) did it with plumbing tools to work with basically compared to today?
Butch vs. Femme...again? I'm a bisexual femme girl attracted to femme girls, and I just have a question for those who are attracted to butch gals. I've always been confused by that, because as a lesbian/bisexual, I would think that you loved women because they're...well...women. But butch girls are much more masculine, so why be attracted to butch girls if you're not going to be attracted to men? Is it just a plumbing/tools sort of thing? I understand that you can love someone for what their like on the INSIDE (I could already see the lectures I was about to get for that), but there also has to be physical attraction either initially or eventually or whatever. Thanks for any input! You're right, I wasn't trying to be disrespectful and was being curious. I mostly ask because, the way I saw it, one would prefer butch over femme because they were more like men. But then I asked myself (and this is probably typical for a bisexual, because I am attracted to different things with each sex), why would you search for the masculine in a woman when you can have a man? The more I think about it, though, it seems like I'm turning it into a black and white issue when it's not. Thanks for the answer, though, just wanted to clarify why I was thinking the way I was--I wasn't trying to 'explain attraction' or whatever it may be.
Has anyone ever heard of a plumb bob tool that you can use to ask it questions and it will tell you the truth? I have heard that one can use a plumb bob tool to find out the truth about something. You draw a circle on a paper, then draw to line in the middle running both ways, then write yes in the top and bottom sections and no in the side sections. Hold the plumb bob over the paper and then ask it a yes/no question. It will swing either back and forth or side to side to answer your question. I tried it. It works! But has anyone else heard of this?
i have a buisness idea 4 my plumbing co. i own and am the only plumber i need $ for trucks to employ plumbers? so i can make more $$ for the co. here is wheat i thought. we all have senior realitives such as grandmas grandpas. i would like to have 1 to 2 trucks working just for our seniors for free like free service calls. how can i start this? to even do it i need 10 trucks working to actually make enough $ tocover cost and me still make a good living.. do i go to the news stations to get the word out and ask for donations say a goal of $250.000.00 for trucks and tools and advertisment cost to keep afloat. i would keep working for the seniors for free forever. i know i would be swamped with work but two trucks for them city of 1 million 8 calls a day per truck. = alot of happy seniors. how can i start this?? thank you! i have already been in buisness for 10 years and make by myself a gross 100k i net around 50k with wife and 5 kids i never seem to have any extra money to save or even use to expand. i feel trapped and hate to ask for loans.???

Plumbing: how to pull a compression sleeve and nut? I've got to replace an old valve (pre-1976) under my bathroom sink. Just my luck, they changed the threads and the old compression nut will not fit the new valve. I have the tool I need, the "compression sleeve nut puller," which slightly resembles a wine-bottle opener, with two wings that attach behind the nut, and a center crank that should pull the nut off. However, when I try to use it, the wings snap off of the nut as I turn the crank, rather than pulling the nut & sleeve off. Any ideas (besides paying a professional)?
hey ladies... are you pretty handy around the house? power tools, plumbing, hanging blinds anything else?? don't need no stinking man!
Bathtub Faucet Plumbing seat hopeless!? I am starting to feel hopeless.........our house was built in 72. I have tried to fix a leak in my hot water bathtub faucet, replaced washers, some recommended checking the seat when it still leaked. it is gouged and cracked it looks like. I have the tool to get it out but it nor the cold will budge, and I've had MEN try and try. What can I do? Am I going to have to replace the whole piping back there also? if any one has any tricks to get this baby out I would kiss your feet. Also, even if I get it out, I bought new faucet handles.......I have a sneaking suspicion its not going to fit for ALL the parts look much larger than what I took out. The part where the seat is, is it possible that the general size in 72 is different than the general size today? And if so then what?? Any idea what it MIGHT cost to have plumber fix? I can solder........but that is a LOT of joints to replace all that back there. Again......feelin real helpless and too much longer I'll be stinky!
i have been buying tajima hand tools in japan are they cheaper in usa? mostly pull saws, ink lines, chalk lines and plumb bobs some really cool innovative stuff

can I change a bathroom faucet myself? Does it take any special plumber tools? I am very mechanically inclined but I know that in some plumbing jobs it takes special tools. I want to changing a basic 4" bathroom vanity faucet. Anyone have some pointers out there? Or should I call a plumber?
How would you negotiate your salary in this situation? Audio/Visual Job: 1999-2005 Start: $10.00hr End: $12.61hr Plumbing Jobs: Dec 2006-Present 1st) $10.00hr Starting and Ending 2nd) Start: $11.00hr End: $12.00hr 3rd) Start: $11.00hr End: $12.00hr My Audio/Visual experience yielded skills which can be used in Plumbing. Ex...I learned how to work with tools and some basic construction skills along with how to work in construction environments. I have been in Plumbing now for one and a half years. I am sick to death of being pushed back when I take a new job and want to get to $14.00 an hour. This is where I feel I should be at this point. I have just joined the Plumbing Union and fear that the employer will try this $11-12hr garbage on me.
where in B.C. can I find tonneau caps, tool canopies, slide-out trays for pick-up trucks? Specifically for a Ford Lariat F350 diesel 4X4 crew cab short-box (6.5') pick-up. I run a fleet of service vehicals for a HVACR & Plumbing company and I'm leaning towards pick-ups as service vehicals instead of Vans. I'm starting with the F350 and so far I've looked at "Cargo Body" & "Nortruck". Both products look great but a little too rich for my blood. I thinking about puting in a tonneau cap with a single slide out tray system in the box. The truck still sits pretty high with the factory 16" tires and suspension so the slide-out tray is appealing and because this would primarilly be a repair & maintenance service truck I'll only need it to transport smaller items; hand & power tools, parts, refrigerant, etc. I thought I'd get a trailer for installations. I added this particular truck to our fleet to tow a trailer for our geothermal installations. In between these jobs I still need it to produce. Anyways, If anyone could help me out I't would be appreciated. CF
install dishwasher? How do you install a dishwasher for the first time. What tools are required. What are the steps. What kind of plumbing is required. Is it skilled work.
How to get rid of loud sink noise? My cold water tap makes a loud noise and vibrates when it's turned on at low volume. However, when I turn it on more, there's a point at which the noise stops and there is no more vibration. It's annoying because I can't use my cold water at low volume (i.e. when it isn't coming out of the faucet really fast). I don't have any plumbing experience, but is there a fix for someone with household tools (wrench, screwdriver, hammer, etc.).
Water is not coming out of my showerhead when I turn it on, why is it just coming out of the tub faucet? When I pull the knob for the shower, the showerhead does not respond. How to I get back where the panel is to try to fix it? Do I cut a hole in the wall? The back of the shower is against the hall way closet. I see that the wall paneling is screwed in place, but there is not an opening for me to fix any plumbing. My house was built in 1950. I have no idea if the plumbing for the shower has been updated or not. Should I just hire a plumber? I would like to just fix it myself. I think it may be that deverter part that might be broken...but not sure.... Should I hire a plumber for this? If I do it myself, what type of tools do I need?
You get a fine from the sity? Oh yeah, hang on. He says he isn't here even though he is. I mean, am I right? Hang up the phone. You're wasting my damn minutes. Did you notice? A lot of water gets wasted sometimes, what with the plumbing and shelter. Information comes from the television, but only sometimes when they put it outside. Outside to party with the people out there, but they have to its part of their job. Only sometimes do they use the right tools, because they need to when the phone calls, but who will answer the call? Who is calling? We can not know until it is answered, with the breasts there. They shake it sometimes, on the bar. It can happen, with their scams. Avoiding the balloon smugglers.
How do I trim the length of PVC pipe? I have plumbing coming into my condo from the wall next to where the sink was. I am remodeling my kitchen, and the new sink is being placed 5" to the left. The water pipes aren't an issue, but the drain pipe is, it's now 5" too long and I need to shorten it. Obviously I can hack off the 5" inches of the horizontal pipe, but my question is how do I the reconnect it? What tools do I need? Here is a picture of the situation: http://ninebabcock.com/sink.jpg
What is the best type of low-cost home construction for someone to undertake when doing the labor alone? I'm a female with two a teen son and pre-teen daughter, and considering building my own small home on a lot I own. It's in the city limits in central North Carolina, and my great-grandparents homestead once stood there, and was razed a decade ago. So I am at least starting out with a level, cleared lot that has utilities in place to hook up to. I want to build something that will be energy efficient, and that will require very little maintenance. It will be tiny, under 1,000 sq. ft., and I will be paying in cash as I go. I will contract out the HVAC, plumbing and electrical work, but would like to tackle as much of the rest as possible on my own, with the kids assisting, of course. I am pretty strong and handy with tools, and I don't have a time constraint. I just want to ensure I end up with a well built home without jeopardizing my family's safety in the process.
I got a ticket while loading my van in a loading area.? A few months back I went to a hardware shop, in Seven Kings to collect some bag of cement they had got in for me specially. I parked my sign written plumbing van outside the shop, in a loading area. I was gone about 5 minutes. When I returned a parking warden was there sticking a ticket on my windscreen,. I explained I was in a commercial vehicle in a loading area.. All quite legal and proper. He could see the reciept and the heavy bags of cement I was carrying. AHH yes he said.. your in a loading area but you have to leave your doors open to show your loading..What rubbish// How long do you think it would be before my power tools got stolen in an open unattended van He said.."sorry mate its not my fault its the council ( Redbridge). Soon after I got the usual summons from the Redbridge council. I wrote back and complained but to no avail. As far as I know they are still taking me to court. I will appeal. Anyone had similar experiences?

Just about to start working for myself? Got the qualifications and experience, got my van and most of my tools. Hoping i will be Corgi registered on Monday, when i get assesed. Been Corgi registered through the company for a while now. Been plumbing and heating for many years, servicing boilers etc. I am getting made redundant within the next nine months, not sure exactly when. Whats the best way to advertise. I want to start doing small jobs to build a client base. I really want to work mostly within the Harrow, Ruislip and Hillingdon area. Though i would look into other areas if needed. Just need to know the best way to advertise to start off with.
$40K Lost, should I file an insurance claim? Last night (3) of my plumbing trucks were broken into and over $40k worth of tool and material were stole on the trucks. I have liability insurance and auto insurance, should I file a claim over this. Currently I pay about $9000 per year for my liability insurance. The concern I have is if I file a claim how much will my insurance likely go up? Am I going to be cancelled or end up paying $18,000 per year for the next 10 years? What should I do? I've never made a claim against my insurance before?
Can I unclog a slow drain myself? I've tried drano and drano like products but nothing has worked. I'm pretty handy but my plumbing experience is limited to changing out hardware. Is there a tool I can rent/buy or another method that I don't know of. Not many tasks around the house are too big for me and I'm trying to save money

Grundfos Central Heating Pump Problem? Help!? Got home tonight to find my central heating pump leaking water from its main body and as a result the circuit breaker blowing on the supply to the central heating. I have isolated the wiring and also isolated the pump by turning off the valves on either side. The pump is a Grundfos 15-50 130 Selectric. Replacement looks straightorward. Can anyone please advise what has happened to this pump and any special things to do on replacement ...i.e will it need bleeding? Should I use PTFE tape on the threads or plumbers sealant? Can I use plumbing pliers to undo the 50mm nuts or is there a special tool? Why do these pumps fail like this? Any help will be really appreciated! Thanks
how do you clean out a clogged gutter downspout? I cleaned out the top part, but the downspout part is running slow. I used the hose to flush it down, but it is still slow. The hardware store guy said that a plumbing snake might put a hole in the downspout. Any ideas of a tool that might work and where to get it? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who wrote this christian song? Onward, Christian soldiers! Duty's way is plain; Slay your Christian neighbors, or by them be slain, Pulpiteers are spouting effervescent swill, God above is calling you to rob and rape and kill, All your acts are sanctified by the Lamb on high; If you love the Holy Ghost, go murder, pray and die. Onward, Christian soldiers! Rip and tear and smite! Let the gentle Jesus bless your dynamite. Splinter skulls with shrapnel, fertilize the sod; Folks who do not speak your tongue deserve the curse of God. Smash the doors of every home, pretty maidens seize; Use your might and sacred right to treat them as you please. Onward, Christian soldiers! Eat and drink your fill; Rob with bloody fingers, Christ okays the bill, Steal the farmers' savings, take their grain and meat; Even though the children starve, the Savior's bums must eat, Burn the peasants' cottages, orphans leave bereft; In Jehovah's holy name, wreak ruin right and left. Onward, Christian soldiers! Drench the land with gore; Mercy is a weakness all the gods abhor. Bayonet the babies, jab the mothers, too; Hoist the cross of Calvary to hallow all you do. File your bullets' noses flat, poison every well; God decrees your enemies must all go plumb to hell. Onward, Christian soldiers! Blight all that you meet; Trample human freedom under pious feet. Praise the Lord whose dollar sign dupes his favored race! Make the foreign trash respect your bullion brand of grace. Trust in mock salvation, serve as tyrant's tools; History will say of you: "That pack of Goddamn fools."
