a plumbing part that sprays a fine mist? i'm looking for a plumbing part that you can attach to a pipe that will spray a constant fine mist (the finer the mist, the better). does anyone know where i can find such a part, what it is called, or if it even exists? any help would be greatly appreciated.
Plumbing question: shutoff valve in kitchen - reuse existing parts? I managed to remove the existing shutoff valve from underneath my kitchen sink. Now the question is do I reuse the part that looks like a ring or collar? If I should replace the "ring" with the new one that came with my new shutoff valve, how do I remove the old one? It appears to be buried way back somewhere in the existing nut.

Plumbing part needed? I need an adaptor for my kitchen sink that I have spent hours online looking for. I need a 3/4 female to 15/16 female adaptor. I have a hose that I want to attach to the sink but need this adaptor. I have gone to Ace Hardware, Home Depot, plumbshop.com, but no luck. I could also use a 3/4 inch washer.
Who is liable for shared plumbing problems? My parents run a shop at a commercial location. There has been a drainage pipe that has somehow become corroded and must be replaced. This is a very costly project. The pipes are such that the waste of every single shop in the complex will run through the corroded pipe. Now, our argument is that because the plumbing is shared, we shouldn't be held responsible for repairs just because they are under our shop. The plumbers say that we shouldn't be liable, but they're not lawyers. We've had others tell us that shared plumbing is part of the structure, and the landlord should pay just as if the wall collapsed due to age. Does anyone know who is liable or have any advice? We are going to have a lawyer read our lease, but we don't know what to do beyond that. We live in Los Angeles, if that matters.
Plumbing question part 2? Is it common for radiator valves to fail? When i turn them, the spindle appears to be moving up and down so it must be working right? If it is broken, do i have to replace the whole thing?

What does the Texas Plumbing Code or UPC say about overflow prevention in bathroom sinks? Does anyone know if this it is acceptable in the state of Texas (Houston to be specific) or as part of the UPC Plumbing code to not have overflow prevention at bathroom vanity sinks? Or, does anyone know where i can find the part of the codebook to reference this question. My bath vanity sinks do not have an overflow prevention. If i turn on the faucet and plug the drain, it will overflow. The Powder room pedestal sink has 3 small homes on the inside of the sink bowl on the fornt lip where if the water level reaches, it will drain out the sink drain. The Master bath and others with a vanity cultured marble cabinet top sink do not have these. I am trying to figure out if this is acceptable, I have googled everything i can think of. TIA.
when replacing the fixtiures in a shower/tub do you have to do any actual plumbing? or does a new universal replacement type just mount in the same plumbing left when you remove the old parts.does the stem length on the new have to match the old length so the handles are not recessed too much (or stick out to far).the house was built in the late 60s and when i tried to replace some parts, the stem(speakman brand)was the longest one in the cataloge and wasnt stocked at home depot .now i bought a new set (5 pcs) and dont want to tear out ,or cut up the tub surround or try to get at the plumbing from the back. HELP

plumbing supply three years ago sold me a heater that is 20 years old? three or more years ago in august of 2003 i purchased a gas heater from a plumbing supply ; i had trouble with it from the beginning... now this years trying to buy parts and a service manual i have been informed the heater is obselete and that the unit is over 20 years. old.. but the description the dealer gave me was for a different model than he sole ,me... i cant buy parts.. and it is dangerous to use..i CALLED him and after a 2 hour conversation.. he said i had it three years.. and in so many words he said he was unwilling to do anything... also i found some one had been in the heater and did some welding... which is not susposed to be done on a gas appliance.. i found all this out when i e mailed the williams heater company and gave then the model number i was susposed to have... when i got the manual 45 pages. nothing matched.. then i found a tag inside the heater. with a different model than he indicated on the papers he gave me after three years is there any thing i can do
RV plumbing problem? We have an older slide-in camper (Real Lite). We have a fitting that broke on the interior plumbing (between spigot and fresh water tank). Where do you suggest getting affordable replacement fittings or parts to replace the line between the tank and the spigot?
Horrible plumbing in my rental apartment? I just moved from NYC to Southern California. I have always had cats and have lived with my boyfriend/now husband for the better part of 10 years. We have never had plumbing problems before, but ever since moving in to this apartment 5 months ago, we've had nothing but plumbing problems. For a while it was just a slow drain on one toilet. The landlord would snake and it would be fine for a while and then it would get slow again. Then last month, one morning out of nowhere, both toilets and both showers started spewing sewage in unison at 7am! A real plumber came, snaked from the basement/garage and told me to stop flushing litter. Done. Now it seems the toilets are starting to drain slowly again. Can I use rid-ex even if we don't have a septic tank? Any other suggestions to keep things flowing? Thanks! I am adding details to answer some of the questions/suggestions raised in the answers: 1 - THANK YOU to those of you responding 2 - I don't want to move, everything about this apartment is perfect except for the plumbing. 3 - The landlord has assured me it is not a problem with the roof vent, though I don't know how he knows this. 4 - None of the plumbers could identify what they snaked but one suggested we stop flushing our flush-able litter. 5 - I just want to know what I can do to help the plumbing running smoothly. I know it's not technically my responsibility, but it would certainly make my life either. 6 - Is Ridex safe for non-septic systems? THANKS!
Please help me with the bathroom plumbing issue!!! I bumped the pipe loose from the bottom of the sink??? We just moved into this house two weeks ago and I'm already breaking it! First off, forgive my plumbing lingo...I don't know this stuff. I pushed a box under the bathroom sink. When I did it, it loosened the connection of the pipe that connects the sink drain. I tried to tighten it back up, but when I did that the silver ring in the sink popped off. Is there a website that can explain how to fix this? I can tell that it isn't too complicated, but I want to do it right. Also, there is this SUPER smelly jelly stuff all on the inside that I'd like to clean out first, but I'm afraid to take apart pieces if I can't get it back together. Are there alot of little parts in there? Oh, please give me directions before my husband gets home. I want to show him that I can fix it. Please help. The straight pipe that connects directly to the bottom of the sink. The actuall little stopper "fell" into the sink hole about two inches. I see that it seems like the silver ring in the bottom of the sink bowl should connect to the pipe, but it's as though the pipe doesn't reach. I FIXED IT ! ! ! I am so proud of myself! My first home repair........oh, the memories I'm creating! Thanks for all the help!

How do you prevent plumbing clogs while saving energy and water? I am trying to do my part to save water and energy by using cold water whenever I can for laundry, washing dishes and hands, etc. I also try to prevent wasting water by not letting the sink and bathtub run, and have installed a tankless water heater for near instant hot water. The problem is that my plumbing frequently backs up due to buildup of soap/shampoo/laundry detergent/dishwashing detergent. I've read that flushing the plumbing once a month with large volumes of hot water will help prevent/treat this problem, but that goes against my principles of trying to save energy and water. Does anyone have good ideas for preventing plumbing clogs from soap/detergent buildup, without wasting a lot of energy or water?
plumbing/repiping galvanized with galvanized? Hi all,I have a not so severe plumbing predicament that I will like to repair myself. My hot water pressure/flow has reduced in the kitchen/bathroom.In the kitchen, when I tap the pipes full pressure runs out for a minute with rust or brown colored water then it slows back up.Runs good for sometime for a couple of weeks on and off.The pipes sre galvanized and are not long runs being a small house. This started when a hotwater heater that was removed and replaced with a new one. It was so full of sediment that it backed up thru the pipes. There has been repair and water shut off before and this has never happened so I know it was the tank.the cold water pressure is fine.I would like to know if changing the supply lines will fix the the problem temporary or permanently? Do I need to change every section of the supply lines or part of it? thanks all
Water heater or plumbing? I have been experiencing a drop in hot water pressure from all faucets and showerheads in my home. I drained the water heater (got sediment out). The pressure improved for about a week, but has decreased ever since. The water heater company says it's the plumbing, the plumber says it's the heater (may have been mishandled before installation). Water pressure outside is 45 psi, coming directly out of the heater it's 20 psi. Heater company says water heater doesn't affect pressure, try flushing the hot water line. Plumber mentioned the galvanized pipes directly meet the copper ones, but doesn't think that is the current cause (though I do need to have that corrected). But only part of the house has vertical galvanized pipes, the rest has copper, and this pressure problem is from every hot water outlet. Cold water pressure is fine. Plumber did not report any leaks. Gas heater, 18 mos old, hard water. When they're pointing at each other, who to believe? Any other possible causes? Thx
Partition wall out of plumb part 2? Well after I complained to the contractor that the partition wall he had put up was 1 inch out of plumb over 7 foot he came out and fixed it. Well vertically anyway. In fact we he did was at halfway up the wall he re-adjusted it so it was plumb so now the wall is at a slight zigzag, not only that it is now no longer at 90 degrees with the adjoining wall and is .5 of an inch out over less than 1 foot. I complained to the owner of the company who is supposedly coming out first thing tomorrow to look at it and fix it but if I find another problem I am axing them. apparently hisguys told him that it was just the door frame that was out. Shame they left evidence behind showing the contrary 3 issues so far Hinging the bedroom door at the wrong side so that you have to open the door full, step into the room, close the door to be able to turn the light on Partition wall out of plumb vertically by 1 inch. Partition wall now not at 90 degrees with adjoining wall.
how does criminals make weapons in jail? i was watching mythbusters and they were talking about these criminals who made deadley weapons one was a sphere made out of newspaper and styphrophone cup for the tip it was amazing and this one guy made a silenced pistol out of plumbing parts how do they do it
how should I go about cleaning my garage? I have three GIANT piles of stuff. It literally takes up a 2 1/2 car garage leaving just walking room from the door leading into the house to the side door and the big garage door to that walkway (in the middle). The back pile consists of LOTS of toolboxes, giant toolbox-type storage bins (3), old bikes, big box-carrying pusher things (like the restockers in a hospital would use), and some empty storage bins. The left section of my garage is mostly boxes from when I moved into my house (six years ago). The boxes used to be neatly stacked, but have been fallen over. There is also an old microwave, a record player (don't know if it works), old speakers, and a baby crib. The right pile is a HUGE MESS!!! There is a ladder, a childrens swimming pool, boxes, Literally buckets and buckets of little brass plumbing parts (my grandpa was a plumber - he died when I was one, now I'm sixteen). We got my grandma's house when I was 9. We also have JUNK. Theres Buried stuff I don't know abt.
Could a plumbing shut off valve turn itself? I have a leaky toilet in my house. When my brother and sister in law moved in a couple months ago, I replaced all of the parts in hopes of making the toilet usable, but I think the problem is that the tank doesn't fit onto the bottom properly. I decided to just turn the shut off valve to the toilet off and deal with it later on when I'm doing other work up there. It's one of the cheap plastic ones, if that makes a difference. Anyways, everyone in the house knew not to use the toilet and that the water needed to stay turned off, but this morning I got up to find that part of the ceiling under it fell down and there was water dripping from the ceiling. I went up to see where it was coming from, and the shut off valve to the toilet was turned on. Everyone in the house swears they didn't touch it. All of the stuff that they had been storing on and around the toilet was still in place, too. Is there any chance that the water pressure made the valve turn itself on or something like that? I had turned the valve off 2 or 3 months ago... if I didn't turn it off all the way, if it possible for it to slowly turn itself on over time? When I went up there to check on it, I had to turn it a few times to shut it off again. I want to be CERTAIN that there's no other explanation for what happened before I start accusing people of things. :-(
Bathtub Faucet Plumbing seat hopeless!? I am starting to feel hopeless.........our house was built in 72. I have tried to fix a leak in my hot water bathtub faucet, replaced washers, some recommended checking the seat when it still leaked. it is gouged and cracked it looks like. I have the tool to get it out but it nor the cold will budge, and I've had MEN try and try. What can I do? Am I going to have to replace the whole piping back there also? if any one has any tricks to get this baby out I would kiss your feet. Also, even if I get it out, I bought new faucet handles.......I have a sneaking suspicion its not going to fit for ALL the parts look much larger than what I took out. The part where the seat is, is it possible that the general size in 72 is different than the general size today? And if so then what?? Any idea what it MIGHT cost to have plumber fix? I can solder........but that is a LOT of joints to replace all that back there. Again......feelin real helpless and too much longer I'll be stinky!
Plumbing - single-knob shower has cold, but no hot water. Causes? Home is 10 years old, was vacant for a year before I bought it. One shower has cold water only, no hot. The single knob turns on the water, with decent pressure. As you rotate the knob to get more hot water (mixing in hot with the cold), it does not warm up. When you dial it all the way to hot, there is no water flow at all. It appears that the hot water is not able to get through 'somewhere'. How to diagnose? 1) other showers and adjacent sinks all have warm/hot. 2) second floor bathroom, no easy wall access 3) no apparent leaks currently Could the hot water to JUST that one fixture have been turned off? Where? (If there was a leak, and this was the former owners way of dealing with it.) The hardware store guy said it might be the 'stem', and showed me a couple of $15 parts that could be bad. Is this the kind of repair that a semi-handy person could complete? (I have completed a variety of different home repairs, but would not call myself an expert!)
Plumbing question? Can anyone tell me why when I flush my commode, the water level is very low after filling up? But, if I push the handle a little like I am going to reflush, it lets some water come back in the toilet and then I let go. Why is this? Could it be inside parts on the tank, Or something else? Plumber would be appreciated. TY..
Plumbing question? Do you need teflon tape when therading together breass My water filter for my frig needs to be replaced All the parts male and female are brass do I need tape or pipe dope??
Got a plumbing question? I thought I knew the problem with my running toilet, so I took out the old parts that deal with the little ball and fill up the tank that is what seemed to be causing it to run, when I lifed up on the ball it would stop. It stopped the running water sound. I had turned off the water to the toilet, before I flushed to let the rest of the water out the level was low. I went ahead and installed everything but a new flapper and overflow tube. Now the tank still doesn't stay full, it doesn't constantly run, but every few minutes the water level goes down and it runs to fill back up! So does it sound like I need to replace the flapper and overfill tube too?? We were trying to get by without just buying a new toilet, but I am beginning to wonder if that is what I may have to do. Or do you think I installed something wrong? I have not done this before, but followed directions and there is nothing leaking and I don't hear water running but the water level just goes down! I am confused! HELP!! Okay did the food color thing and within a few minutes there was blue water in the bottom of the bowl! So I guess I will try to replace the flapper or clean it and make sure nothing is stuck or gunked up around it. It is older and has a lot of gunk build up around the overflow tube which I was chipping off too. I was trying to fix it before my husband returned home for the weekend so he wouldn't have to mess with it! I am usually pretty handy and can do things my self or am not afraid to try! Now I have to figure out how to replace the other part! Maybe time to call dear old dad! Thanks for the ideas to the two plumbers!
Did I get ripped off on this plumbing job? My well pressure tank was replaced. The plumber installed a Well-X-Trol professional... he charged me $525 for the tank, supposedly $100 for installation, and misc parts - the total was $700. Anyone know how much a well-x-trol (WX-203) pro costs?
