Fireplace Screens Questions
Where locally or online can I buy nice fireplace screens for my KIVA fireplace? I need help finding a nice fireplace screen for my adobe kiva fireplace. Not sure where to find one. Thought about having one made. We live in new mexico....near albuquerque area. Any ideas locally? Anyone have ideas for online? Googled of course, but alas... I am not looking for a kiva fireplace, I am looking for a screen that fits a kiva fireplace.
Fireplace screen? I just purchased a fireplace screen to go in front of the fireplace... We have a screen that slides in front of the fire but embers will pop out or the logs will shift and a couple times they have rolled out. I got the screen so the cat wont lay in front of the fireplace and risk get hurt by flying embers or hot logs rolling out on to him. But we have noticed that even though the screen is metal/mesh... it seems to block a lot of the heat. I was wondering if it is acting as a heat sink, the heat hits the metal screen that is sitting on ceramic tile. If you move the screen it gets really warm in the living room really fast. Anybody else experience this?
do i HAVE to buy a fireplace screen? i am renting, short of money. there are no rugs or furniture near fireplace. there is 1 foot of tile right in front of the fireplace opening, and then hardwood floors. is it "suggested" but not "necessary" to get a screen?
does anyone know where I can download a "fireplace" screen saver? A friend of mine last year burned onto a disc a "fireplace" scene that she popped into her DVD player during Xmas parties... it looked like a real fire on her big screen tv, lol... I am looking for the same thing for an Xmas party I am hosting tomorrow... any input would be appreciated!
How can I remove rust from an outdoor fireplace screen? I have a Coleman outdoor fireplace with a metal screen that has become very rusty. I would like to paint it but I know that I have to remove ALL of the rust or it will return. I would order a new screen but it has been discontinued.
is this a fire hazard? we have a gas log set in our fireplace and a metal fireplace screen in front of the? fireplace. my wife placed two 2 foot tall scarecrows on the fireplace hearth. one on the left side of the hearth and the other an the right. the scarecrows are made of straw. the fireplace screen is between the log set and these things sitting on the hearth. is it a fire hazard to have something like this sitting on the hearth when the fireplace is off but the pilot light is on? obviously i wouldnt light the set with these things on the hearth. i wonder if a spark could shoot out from underneath the log set pilot light and somehow make it through the screen and cause a fire. is this far fetched or is there a risk here?
Downloading fireplace tv screen savers? I was wondering if anybody could give me information as to where I would be able to find on the internet a fireplace with the logs burning including sound, a (TV) screen saver so at Christmas I could pop that into the dvd player and have that playing on the tv in the background. I want however to find one that I can download and burn for free. I would greatly appreciate all your comments and information as to where I might be able to obtain what I am looking for. Thank you.

What do you think about a flat screen above a fireplace? So we just bought a flat screen t.v. I'm not into the giant t.v.s but we bought a 42 inch - which is big enough. We could put it on a stand or we could put it above our fireplace. I would love to have it on a wall (fireplace) instead of a stand, for space issues. My husband said you can't put it about the fireplace because people don't want to look up at the screen from a sitting position. What do you think? Where is the best place.
Is it safe to hang a flat screen over the fireplace? I am surprising my husband with a flat screen tv soon and I wanted to have it installed over the fireplace. But is that safe for the tv? Will the heat radiate through the brick and sheet rock that is over the brick and affect the tv and wiring? Thanks in advacnce
what to do with large corner fireplace not in use? Large den with corner fireplace and big screen tv. Fireplace is in corner opposite tv. Can't move tv because the only place to move it would be on the same wall as fireplace in opposite corner. Need ideas on how to make use of fireplace without tearing it out. Too costly. Fireplace is behind all of the furniture and makes room look backwards and off balance. Please help!!!
TV over gas fireplace? I want to put the flat screen above the fireplace and i know the wires should go in the wall which a tech can figure out, but....where do you put ypur "cable tv" box and stuff? It looks so easy on those home shows......
What kind of fireplace do I have, and can I burn wood in it? I know this sounds like some other ?'s, but I still had to ask. Better safe than sorry. The fireplace I have has the old gas switch in the brick that you need a key to turn on, but the gas line has been capped off. There is a grate for the "wood" that is about 4 inches off the bottom the fireplace. It looks a ceramic brick around the inside. The opening going up to the chimeny is about 8 to 10 inches in dia. I also have a control lever for outside air control. There is a switch on the wall that appears to blowing air. It does have some suction from the bottom, but no air comes out any where in the house. Also when it is turned on, and fire burning, there is a smell of plastic burning. What does that fan do? The fireplace has two chainmail looking screens, and a folding glass door. Can anyone help?????
Is there a wireless system for DVD players to work with Flat Screens? I want to purchase a flat screen televsion to go above my fireplace, but I don't want wires all over the place, is there such thing as a wireless system to work with an HDTV? If not, how would I attach the wires from DVD player to the tv if the DVD player is approx. 7' away from the TV?
