What is your favorite home decorating trick/idea?

My husband and I have an older 1 1/2 story house. Does anyone know any good sites or links (preferably with pictures) that I can use to get some ideas to decorate or possibly remodel to make it appear bigger? Not any huge projects! Thank you! The walls are already a shade of white. What appliances are unnecessary? Don't they all have a purpose? lol

1. If you are wanting bigger-than less means more. The less furniture & stuff & nick nacks you have will give the look of more room & bigger than it is. Also stay with light colors & no wall paper with prints. Light for curtains & bedding as well.
2. I keep my walls and carpets and floors neutral colors, and bring color into the room with the curtains, pictures and pillows. this way changing how a room looks is really easy and inexpensive. Just buying new curtains or pillows, and adding different color nicknacks and such, changes the whole look of the room.
3. first of all u have to through away all the unnecessary appliances of the home. Try to apply light color on the wall.It 'll not take much money if u use your intelligence.Use your furniture's multipurposely.Thanku.
