Band Room/Basement Romodel/Ceiling Insulation?

I am remodeling my basement, and I want to keep my basement sound proofed (to atleast a low rumble) because I will keep band practice with drummer/bass/guitars the whole bit. I've sound proofed my walls and subflooring. I was going to use Suspended Ceilings for how cheap it was, but I don't know how practical that would be with putting heavy insulation to proof it from upstairs. Will the acoustic ceiling be able to hold the weight of the heavy insulation? Am I forced to lose ceiling space and money with ceiling joices and plywood? Any other idea are welcome! Thanks!

  1. Most insulation will hold itself in a cavity like this. The floor/ceiling joists ususally are 16" on center and insulation will fit just ever so nicely and will hold itself, just DO NOT use and paper, foil, plastic backing on the insulation. Then drop the ceiling. This should deaden the sound.
