home remodeling what to put down a bathroom floor? under the tub?

  1. Make sure you put wonderboard under the tub before any other flooring surface. Wonderboard is a green tinted gypsum wallboard that is water-resistant found at any home repair store like Home Depot
  2. Ceramic tile is the best choice for a bathroom floor. Unless the tub is an old-fashioned type with feet, you do not have to put new flooring under it; just tile up to it and caulk.
  3. cement board, get it at lowes for about $10 per 3.5 X 5' section.
  4. I use durock. Be sure you're level, or the tub won't drain.
  5. I don't know - but I do have a tip for you. When you caulk around the bath, fill it up with water first. The weight of you plus water will otherwise pull the sealant away when you use it. This will save you having to do it over! P.S. If you are concerned about wasting so much water, you can pour it off into the water tank for flushing the loo.
