Roofing question?
Can water, if it stands long enough, seep through "roll roofing"? I assumed that it could not since it is seamless, but if it can, this will explain one of my roofing leaks.

- i have a construction business, need an estimate email me..
- is there any cracks in the roofing material or on the tar edges
- Yes, it can...water is a universal solvent given enough time. It will percolate through solid granite over time so a thin layer of asphalt hasn't a chance if it just stands on it. Might want to build a grade of at least 1" rise per foot to solve that problem. Sorry.
- Yes, if you look at the installation instructions on roll roofing you will see that is states that it is not for standing water applications. For that you need a torch down (modified rubber bitumen) roof or an EPDM roof (innertube rubber). The other option is to build a slope onto the roof.
- It shouldnt seep threw but it all depends on how it was put on..if they used nails then yes it will leak... hubby ownes a roofing business 20 years experience..
- depends on the pitch of your roof
