1. You would do better with a home equity loan. If that isn't an option get a Lowe's home improvement card and charge the supplies and use their installers.
2. How long do you need to pay off the work? Ask a reputable contractor or two for an estimate, usually free, then qualify yourself with your own payment terms (like 50% at roof loading, 20% when completed and the balance over 3 months) and see if they will work with you. It never hurts to ask. Consumer financing is available to qualified roofing contractors and customers through certain manufacturers. Talk to several local roofing suppliers and Home Depot and Lowes. IF...money is the real problem and there isn't a good equity source (the house), then try local government programs for low-income and elderly for assistance.
