solar panels on my roof?

I was in Florida and saw that a lot of people have solar panels on their roofs. I was thinking of putting up solar panels on my roof to bring electric power to my home. But live in Michigan. Is there enough sun light in Michigan to power my house?

  1. Only if you ever adopt daylight saving!
  2. yeah you should have enough. Most panels need about 16 hours of sunlight to charge. so that should be enough.
  3. Use this site to determine how much sun you can expect to receive: http://www.bigfrogmountain.com/sunhoursperday.cfm Use this site to determine how many panels you will need to produce the amount of electricity you want: http://www.bigfrogmountain.com/calculators/solarpanelsrequired.htm It might not be cost effective where you live. Good Luck!
  4. Yes but it depends on the number of panels you use, & what your demand of power will be. There are lots of websites on the internet with information on residential solar systems, & some of them will have aids in estimating the size of system you will need.
