what are the most energy efficeint materials when building a house?

i am doin a school project and would like to no what the best materials for building a houde are when you want to keep the house warm in the winter and cold in the summer... also what roofing materials are best and insulation

  1. Hay bales. There are homes actually made of this and are very energy efficient. Google it and you will see.
