Any solutions for different floor levels at threshold of rooms? 1cm difference- Help!?

I laid floorboards and when I got to the door found a big difference in thickness between laminate of hallway and boards of the room. Therefore cannot fit normal threshold strip and there is a trip hazard. DIY not my strong point!!

  1. ask for a reducer threshold at a flooring company
  2. Your flooring supplier will have "transitional moldings" which are designed for this and are available to satisfy most cases.
  3. Measure the difference, then go to a flooring store and ask for the 'transistion' that fits.
  4. Had you considered this before laying the wood, it could have been solved by ramping the floor (floating it from 1cm to nothing) Now you will need to use a transitional threshold. They are available in different sizes so you should double check the measurement. They are available in different materials as well. Since the areas are laminate & wood, the threshold will look best if it matches the wood.
