Laminate Flooring ?

Hi ! I'm looking for a site or sites online where I can find some good, easy to follow instructions on laying a laminate floor in a bathroom - I am not a very good DIY'er but am prepared to have a go - all help and advice appreciated. Cheers Andrew

3. Can't help sorry, but been told by friends who've done it that its easy.
4. Its actually not that hard .... Make sure you get the 'clicklok' stuff that clicks together else you have to glue each piece and that is a pain. Also for a bathroom you need special waterproof laminate .. called aqualok I think otherwise the water will kill it. Wickes is a good source but also B&Q etc have leaflets .. also you could try their website www.diy.com ps Dont quote me on the spellings for the 'lok' stuff but that is what it is called.

6. It's important to note that each manufacturer will have different installation instructions. You'll have to read the directions that come with the product. 7. The click together laminate is easy enought to lay but if it is your first try, I would suggest you don't try and do your bathroom. You have all the worry about the toilet and sink. Any local hoiner should lay it for you, it wouldn't take them long and they know what they're doing with the toilet. I would suggest you try a small square room as a first try, like a box room. My hubby did our dining room and it took him a full day!
8. All brands of laminate flooring come with detailed instructions. Make sure you read the instructions and have all the necessary tools before you begin the installation and get started off properly. The starting row determines the final outcome of the finished job. 9. Best advice I can give you is don't put laminate flooring down in a bathroom. Two reasons - first is that no matter what they say, laminate, even that supposedly designed for bathrooms, will blow eventually if it is exposed to water and steam enough times. Secondly, imagine how slippery it will get when it is wet, even if you only have wet feet. It will be like an ice ring. Not a good idea.
10. bit of advice do hope you don't have wooden floors in your bathroom if so not to good an idea you can get very good floor cover that looks just like laminated flooring the only thing is if you have got wooden floor ie floor boards in bathroom there is pipes under them and if you need to get at them for any reason you will have to remove flooring laminated is so easy to lay i have done it so many times make sure you have the one that clicks together and a good underlay always leave a gap all around to allow for stretching if you go to your local library you will get a book that will guide you step by step i cant think of hand what the name of the book is but its in the D I Y good luck I'm a woman and i find its so easy to lay but there again us woman are better at D I Y than most men
11. Hi I personally would not advise laminate in bathroom coz if it gets wet (splashing, condensation etc) it starts to curl and look rough at the joins. We have laminate effect lino.. it looks exactly the same but so easy to lay and to mop up. Good luck xx
12. They don't recommend laminate in a room with water. a leak can cause it to swell up and buckle.

14. You can't install laminate flooring in a bathroom!. Laminate is a floating floor. You will never be able to properly set the commode if you install it. Try going with an engineered wood floor, it is real wood, it glues down so no other specil tools are needed, but if you have a leak expect the same problems that you would with laminate. Like replacing the entire floor. And I'm talking if the toilet overflows just once! But here's a link for you.
15. hiya get a saw and a jigsaw also those packs you can buy for laying flooring and you shouldnt have a problem my b/f usually does ours but this time i helped him in our frontroom and it was easy and for me to say that it must be cause i cant evan paint without getting it everywhere just set aside enough time to do it and you should be ok. good luck
16. Armstrong has a good guide on line. Even for installing in bath and kitchen. Yes it can be done. Yes it can be glued together. Silicone around the edges by the tub, toilet and walls. Well worth checking out and don't get the cheap stuff.
17. Try Lowes or Home Depot. The directions are included in each box of laminate.Be sure you buy the installation tools it will make it a lot easier.
18. Hi i have laid laminate floor panels in our bathroom, they have now been down 16 months, these panels are recommended for bathroom use. Results so far all seems OK except a small section behind the toilet system were the waste pipe had a very small leak which as made the flooring swell up slightly. The floor is not slippy as others are making out. I would not swamp the floor with water as the wooden floor as its limitations! PS: the floor was laid in sections when i fitted a new bathroom suite so no awkward cutting was required.
