DIY - Laminate Flooring Problem?

I wonder if someone could help me. I've fitted new laminated flooring on the ground floor but I'm having trouble finding something to cover the gap between the laminate and the base of the staircase. Our stairs are round, not square at the corner. Is there anything flexible enough to bend it around the bottom step?

  1. You might need to use the regular beading and cut lots of slots in the back of it to make it bendable, if you see what I mean.
  2. rubber cove or make a jig and and make a laminated molding for it
  3. shame you havent carpet on the step maybe use thin strip of mdf
  4. You could cut a curved strip out of wood with a jig saw, then sand it and stain it.
  5. Vinyl trim is usually flexible enough to go around a gentle curve. If you have a sharp curve, youre probably going to have to make the trim (or contact a woodworker to make it for you) Its a common practice to make curved custom molding, by taking thin strips of wood, apply glue, and clamp it in a form to match the needed shape. Then a router can be used to profile the trim. Then its a simple matter of applying a matching finish. Its time consuming to make a form, but not terribly difficult. Good Luck
  6. You may need to experiment depending on how sharp the turning radius of your stair. Buy the wood or plastic trim that you would like to use and CAREFULLY kerf the back of it preferably using a table saw or miter box. Kerfing is cutting slots on the back of the trim about a saw blade apart and about half way or MORE through the trim piece. This makes wood or plastic very flexible. If you bend it too far it will break, but often you can start over and kerf a bit deeper.
  7. go to a flooring supplier and tell them you need flexible quarter round molding it comes white but can be painted or stained to fit your needs why make a mountain out of a mole hill gee lets go to an artist and have them carve a piece of trim out of that old stump in the yard lmao
  8. colourfill... the closest colour possible 2 your laminate, easy
  9. Had the same problem . You can buy plastic beading from home stores like B&Q and Homebase . Also flooring places as well. It works really well.
