Wood flooring installation cost?
Thinking of having wood flooring (floating) installed. Got an estimate for about $11-12.00 per foot. This includes everything..installation, removing carpeting, etc. Is this a rightous estimate? Any help?

- Sounds Ok to me
- We went to Lumber Liquidators to buy our wood floors. They told me they had a guy who installs floors (on the side) for $2.00 a foot but we had to buy the materials.
- In 1998, I installed pre-finished wood floor myself... about 850 sq ft. The cost for the material (including compressor & stapler rental) was about $4500. It was good material - oak - I don't remember the grade (probably one notch down from the top stuff), but it has lasted very well. I'm sure a professional installer could have gotten the material more cheaply. That doesn't directly answer your question, but should give you an idea of part of the cost. A large part of the cost of professionally installed wood floors will be the material, and the quality (and price) of that can vary quite a bit. That said, depending on the flooring, $11-12/sq ft for everything doesn't sound that far away from reality.
- Yes, that sounds about right.. Of course you should get a couple bids, but make sure they bid on the same SQ footage. Also, make sure they are bidding on the same type of wood flooring material. If you need more information on flooring you can visit http://flooring-solution.com Good Luck, Tom
