Can rubber bottom floor mats go in the washing maching?

I had washed them with the hose outside and left them to dry hanging. The a huge dust storm came and they look like they've been thrown in a mud puddle. I cleaned them the best i could with the hose but theyre still brownish. I cut off all the tags when I got them so I can't read washing directions and I dont have any other carpets around. Any ideas?

  1. Yes, however here are some lessons I've learned from ruining a couple. If you have a soak setting use that first with a cycle that will give a gentle agitation. Let most of the dirt soak out of the rug first then run a regular wash using a delicate cycle. If you put it in the dryer, use air dry or the lowest heat setting you have. Check it often to make certain that the rubber isn't melting or flaking off. These measures will help keep the rubber baking from disintegrating.
  2. yes, wash in cold water and hang dry, do not dry in the dryer!!! :)
  3. High pressure at the car wash always works. They usually have hooks to hold them.
  4. yes, but use the cold cycle, no bleach, and hang them to dry. DO NOT put them in the dryer (TRUST ME!! What a mess!!!)
  5. Yes. I have washed my bathroom rugs (with rubber bottoms) in the washing machine plenty of times as well as dried them in the dryer and they have been absolutely fine. I know some of these others are saying there are specific "do's" and "don'ts" but in my experience treating it the same way as anything else has been perfectly fine.
  6. Wash on a gentle cycle. I would let the washer fill up and then let them soak to remove the rest of the dirt. Also if you have any, add 1/2 cup Borax or 1/2 cup white vinegar to the wash for them to soak in and remove stains. Use a no heat dry or hang dry them.
  7. yep sure can...but DO NOT dry them in the dryer...air dry em
