Which is cheaper? Shingles or Tin roofing?

1. Probably tin roofing and I think it lasts longer... not sure, though.
2. Tin roofing but it all depends where do you life. Inwarm climates you will be cooked inside, unless you have double layer with some spacers in between the sheets, otherwise go for the shingles.
3. Tin is cheaper, but you need to really insulate well under it, it draws the heat or cold more than shingles, it's also noisy in the rain.
4. Shingles, in just about any region, and style of roof, will be cheaper to place, repair if necessary, and modify if needed.
5. Where I live a tin roof for an average home is 2-3 times more expensive,but the cost is offset by a longer life.
6. it all dependns on how much space you have to cover there is another thing you can get it is called rolled roofing you can get it at most hardwear stores it just like shingles but in a roll that comes many lengths and widths and colors and is fairly easy to install that is if your state building code will let you check with your local hardwear store to find out
7. in the long run tin they both absorb a tremendous amount of heat in hot weather I can't stand being on ether one when it's hot
8. shingles are cheaper to have installed but have a life span of 30 years (which is great), verses metal roofs that will outlast you. so what's more important to you, initial cost or a life-long roof?
9. regular shingles by miles are cheaper,and the current life spans of good ones make them last about as long as metal when you consider you'll eventually be coating or repairing the metal too,nice metal roofs are extremely expensive by the way
10. shingles are cheaper but cost wise tin will save you money.I just had new roof put on my house and i went with a metal roof. this was done one year ago and my utility bills have been half what they were.I live in south Arkansas and it is so much easier to cool and heat my house.I am having new siding put on now.
