Will a solution of bleach kill moss on the roofing shingles of a house? If so how strong must it be?
The moss killer for houses and gardens stains the concrete and gravel pathways. So I hope to avoid using it.

- it will discolor the shingles
- Try a solution of 30% bleach and 70% water. That should kill the moss but not bleach out the color of the shingles. It will stain your clothes so wear old stuff.Wait a few hours then hose off the shingles, the moss should go with it.
- yes. try a mild solution first 1 cup bleach to 5 gallons of water. increase bleach if necessary
- it may kill it, but you may discolor the shingles. You will definitely discolor any wood products (like a deck) if it drips onto it. You may want to start off with 1 cup per gallon of water and see what that gets you. If it doesn't work, try 1 1/2 cups. Keep going up by half a cup until you get the results you're looking for. Another thing you can try is a pressure washer. You can rent one from just about any hardware store.
- Yes bleach will kill the moss but there is another problem. Do you have tree branches over your roof? If so, you are going to have to eliminate them or the problem will just keep coming back. The roof needs to dry out and the moss will not grow there.
