- That would be great for a beachhouse. I wouldn't mind having it in my room here in the Piedmont of NC. I like coastal design. I'm sure this is what popeye the sailor has in his house. ooh, you gave me an idea for another question.
- Why not if that is what you like; Theme rooms are all the rage now. I have a Fishy bathroom myself. Underwater design wall paper; Fish net for curtains with some fish caught in it. A lobster in the bathtub; Fish design toilet seat . Tiny pictures of knots on the wall (not pictures, the real thing) And shelves with all different sea shells on it. Go for it.
- It seems like the coastal/nautical theme is very popular right now - just look in a Pottery Barn or Restoration Hardware catalog. I think collections of shells or sea glass are pretty when displayed in a glass jar. I also think driftwood can make an interesting decoration. I'm not much for anchors or sailboats, but I think that if I lived near the ocean I'd like them maybe in a bathroom or something like that.
- This decorating scheme is VERY popular right now. I'm seeing it everywhere and has been in EVERY magazine and catalog I subscribe to: Southern Living Southern accents Better home and Garden Domino just to name a few.
- Any decor is good as long as it's not overdone. Pick the bedding/drapes and wall colors and then add as needed. A few sailboats and seashell cabinet knobs sound like a nice touch but I would pass on the door handles and coral desk. Adding only a few things will begin to show you whether to do more or less.
- We like lighthouses and that started the theme combining ocean, shells, wicker baskets, and colors that compliment. We live in the desert, so this type of theme reminds me of my childhood near the beach. Someday my floors will be light wood (reminder of sand). wainscoting in wood finish and light blue walls. I would avoid the coral desk and use knobs in a pewter finish. Make sure whatever is on display is stuff that YOU love!
