how to determine the correct size drawer pulls or knobs ?

I have kitchen cabinet doors and drawers and want to add the correct size knobs and drawer pulls. How does one determine the correct size of such items for the kitchen ? Not all doors and drawers are the same size, of course.

2. This is a rather personal preference. Do you want to see the knobs or the cabinets when you look at the area? A large knob or pull of the same color will blend in better than a highly different color that is smaller. You basically need to determine if the knobs and pulls are to be accents or a main attraction.
