Is there a LED lighting product that can replace coventional interior overhead lighting?

  1. Yes. LED lighting is the wave of the future, but still not commonly available. But you can find it if you look.
  2. LED is another American invention. In the future, LED lights will be used in most homes around the world. They are compact, they use very little electricity, and they last nearly forever. As they become more and more common, the prices will drop fast. Unlike fluorescent lights, LED's emit no ultraviolet light. Several colors of LEDs are put together to produce "white" light.
  3. Yes, there are a few on the market. Currently they are more comon and accessable in CA but you should be able to go online and find / purchase them. The upfront cost may be alittle steep but it will pay off in the long run.

  5. Yes. Amongst others, check out www.superbrightleds.com. Also, probably but don't know for certain, ebay. LEDs are available from various sources for just about any purpose. I think they are the way to go to conserve energy and help the planet out.

  7. Great Question! LED lighting technology is really moving "fast forward". If you are talking about replacing your recessed or can lighting overhead there are several companies making LED cans for new construction and remodels. Check out Progress Lighting or Permlight. They both have a great product and the light quality and color are phenomenal for LEDs (no blue hue). If you are looking for decorative overhead lighting like chandeliers, or pendants Progress Lighting has an entire family of fixtures with LED. I think they haven't been released yet, but should be by the end of the year. LED is great for recessed because it is difficult, to say the least, to get on a ladder and change the light bulbs. The LEDs will last years and years...I heard so far up to 25 years and are extraordinarily efficient. So it works out well for you and the environment...win win =)
