- 1:12 is the shallowest pitch for a metal roof. You can google "metal roof pitch" and pull up metal building roof pitch advice. Good Luck
- This depends entirely on where you live. I live in New Orleans, La. I design, and manufacture parts for metal buildings. We sell buildings everyday with 1/2:12 pitch. This would not be a good practice if we had any annual snowfall. Generally speaking the higher average annual snowfall the steeper the pitch. I would recommend that you call a local metal building company and ask them what the shallowest pitch for your area is. They should be happy to help. As a side note: I built a shop in my backyard with a low profile steel roof. I choose 8:12 because the sun will be deflected. The steeper the pitch the less attic heat, longer the paint lasts, less likely to have screw head leaks.
