Directv installation?

I just ordered Directv and I live in an apartment complex in which does not allow drilling holes in the balcony or roof and I talked to the customer service rep who said they could bring me a tripod upon installation, which is this Thursday. My question is, has anyone gotten a tripod from them, or know how much they charge for them? I was told I would have to pay for it on the spot and it wouldn't be added to my bill so I'm kinda worrying on the cost factor here, I get paid tomorrow, but as some can relate theres also other bills I have to worry about and can't be shelling out money left and right. Thanks!

  1. They won't install anything without making sure that it will work in your situation. Wait until Thursday and ask the installation guy.
  2. Last I checked they charged $75 for a tripod. Wherever you're going to put the tripod it needs to have a clear shot of the southeast sky. If not, you won't be able to get satellite cable. I encountered this problem quite often as a technician for apartment installs.
  3. ive worked side by side with "satellite techs" rude and pushy people. they are paid "by the job" and could care les if it will work after they leave or not. use caution or just call the cable company. they will most likely buy back you dish equipment. because you will have to buy that stuff
