Rolled roofing material is cheaper than other kinds of roofing. Go to Lowes or HD to look how much a roll cost. Labor is by far the biggest cost of doing a roof. So, if you are not doing it yourself, go with more durable roofing. If you have a flat area, have rubber roofing installed. If you have a pitch on the roof, use shingles or metal. To get an idea of material and labor costs in your area, ask your the reference librarian in your library if she has any of the construction cost books in your reference section. The cost in those books can be adjusted for the area where you live.
Call your local supply house for roofing and siding materials. Preferably a business that specilizes in these materials only. Ask them for 3 or 4 names of people or business's that could come out, measure out your project and give you the estimates that you are requesting. If you hire this project done, require that any contractor provide you with a current insurance card from their company for liability insurance and that any employee be covered by workman's compensation. Put this language into a contract before any work is begun. This is to protect you in the event of an accident.
