what does a metal roof cost compared to shingles? For a 1500 sq ft single story home?

A metal roof for my 2400 sq ft home near San Francisco cost about $16,000. They had to tear off a cement tile roof though, so that was a considerable part of the cost. The old tile weighed about 50,000 pounds. The new one is about 10,000. I did it to get rid of all that weight in this earthquake country.
