how much does a roof cost?
Public Comments
- In California, 3 years ago, a medium priced roof over a 2,500 square foot house was $12,000 installed.
- 20.00 dollars
- For a doghouse $27, for a chicken coup $238, for a small home $1600 etc, etc.
- Depending on where you are located it averages between $120 to $230 per square. A roofing square is 10ft. by 10ft. If someone pitches you more than that ask them why and then get more bids. You can get very nice, very popular architectural shingles put on for less than $200 if you do your homework.
- Lots of variables determine the cost of a new roof -- square footage, if you are stripping off the old shingles or laying on top of the old ones (never have more than two layers of shingles), and the shingles themselves. Tile is a lot more expensive than shingles. Labor is another factor. If there is any part you can do yourself, you will save $$$$.
- about 20 grand here in new orleans
- How much beer and pizza do you have?
- if no sheathing damage just a standard roof usually about $2.50 a sq foot
- If you plan on doing it yourself, you might want to price check on shingles, nails, roof vents if needed to be replaced. If you plan to hire someone you best bet would be to call a few local contractors, there are alot of things you need to consider. A few things to think off are.... How bad is the roof now? Will they need to put some new sheets of wood up? Is the attic vented properly, or will they need to cut some vents in? Usually when they put new shingles up most contractors will replace all the roof jacks(also knowen as a flashing, it's the thing that sits around your plumbing vents on the roof). Some contractors may charge more if you steep roof. So it's kind of hard to give an estimate with out seeing what you have to deal with.
