  1. why convert to standard the low voltage light provides better light and is safer.

  5. By standard voltage I assume you mean 230v.The fitting would have to be rewired with suitable cable,lampholder and lamp for this votage ,and fitted with a 13amp plug with a 2 or 3 amp fuse. Throw away the transformer and the old bulb
