I want to add to my low voltage outdoor lighting system???

Can I just put another wire on the transformer leads? I want to put a light in the other direction than where I originally ran the wire. the lighting I have doesn't exceed the transformer rating but will have any problems if I just take a second wire and connect it with the original wire to the transformer. and go in the other direction?

  1. Shouldn't have any problems unless the total load is more than the xfromer rateing
  2. Yes and no. Make sure that the load you put on the transformrer is only about 80 percent of capacity otherwise you can experience uneven light output at fixtures. That is a standard when loading a transformer. I take it that you do not have a multitap transformer.
  3. As long as you are under the max. load for the transformer you will be fine. I have several sets of lights in my yard wired this way. It's been seven years now and no problems.
