Math Thinkathon Ideas....?

Im doing this Math Thinkathon project and i need ideas. It has to involve 6th grade math. Some ideas are: remodeling the garden within 25,000 dollars, getting a new hot water heater, and how much it costs to prepare a wedding ceremony under a certain amount of money.

1. When I taught 5th grade, we did the Million Dollar Project. Students were given a budget of $1 million and had to choose items to buy. They made a book listing the item, a picture, subtracting the amount from $1 million, etc. They had to factor in tax as well. They also had to spend as much of the money as possible without going over. It was fun and educational. We also did one project with designing a plan for a house and furnishing it - they had to find the area of rooms for carpeting, perimeter for wallpaper, etc.
