Ideas for bathroom remodeling?

I'm looking for tile ideas (floor, wall, shower/tub area), countertop/sink type (granite? ceramic?), sink cabinet (wood colors and styles). Am thinking modern colors with good resale value. No doors on tub area, just shower curtain. Your input please. Not quite interested in pedestal sinks, though that's the trend these days.

  1. Go with neutral colours, taupe, beige, browns, white, til eis nice but make sure it's done right. Don't do a small counter, they look nice (pedestal sinks for example) but are not practical. A larger counter with drawers and cupboards would be good. White is nice for the wood, clean lines, nothing too fancy or ornate so that you can appeal to more people.
  2. go with a gray/taupe mosaic design of tile. Black moulding and picture frames. Stainless cabinet with an above bowl sink in light gray granite with bruched nichol plumbing and fixtures. Put the mosaic on the back wall of the shower and on the floor in smaller spots to match. Send me a pic when it's done!!!
  3. An old fashioned pedestal tub (white), and a pedestal sink, with marble slate gray colors going from black throught different shades of gray to white for the tiles.
  4. Do one of your friends have a bathroom that you really like? What is it that you like/dislike about it. Write down some of your likes. Do investigate the stone counter tops. Can it be sealed? What if makeup gets on it? How do you keep it clean? Whatever you decide, be sure to seal all tile grout and reseal when needed.
  5. All I know is electric, put a big enough fan in to move air quietly, separate switch, good lighting separate switch, don't buy a fixture light from a box that has been opened before u got there u don't know whats missing and it could cost u more to replace what is missing, consider in floor heat under the tile with a thermostat and or a timer so it dosn'tstay on longer than it needs tobe. And look at al the types of switches, maybe decora type (rockerstyle), and dont forget outlets if u have two (2) sinks you need one adjacent each sink not 1 in the middle. And if u can help it dont put a light in the shower I have seen last long there, usually a good bare type lite over the sink throws alot of light to get into the shower area good luck
