Remodeling a house.....suggestions?
My husband and I are thinking of purchasing a home. We would like to remodel the entire house by extending each bedroom by about a foot and a half, replacing all the flooring, updating the kitchen, and also building an insulated/heated attached garage. All of this work we can do ourselves, since we have a large variety of skills between me, my husband, and our family (including a drywaller, masonary, and contractor....which is a bonus)....how feasible is all of this with a budget of $25,000? Any good websites that might help us get started? (we are in the midwest, by the way, where things are cheaper)

- Depends on where you live. Extending the rooms and the garage will cost the most. Flooring is cheap. The kitchen could be expensive. It sounds like you need more budget to me.
- i dont get why you would even bother going through all the work to only extend the bedrooms a foot and a half. No it would not be worth the amount of money that will cost, not to mention worrying about low bearing walls, and coming into other shit you dont want to deal with that comes along with adjusting walls. Not for only a foot and a half, save your money and buy something neat for the house if thats the case. The garage its self will cost at least $10,000 for a small double car. Cabinets at their cheapest will cost about 1500$ for the real cheap ones. New appliances ? another $3000 for the cheapest. All the flooring? in a 2000 sq ft home would be about 3000$ and again for all the cheap as hell stuff. So yea, i guess 25,000 sounds about good. As long as you dont run into problems along the way, Such as finding a leak, bugs, and what not.
- I don't know if this will help you but it did help me when I remodeled my kitchen-house. I got an e-book of off amazon, I think. I could not find it again but if you can find one they are cheap and can guide you through the process. I hope this helps you. If you have plumbing questions visit my 360 site! I
