  1. check out Habitat For Humanity (Hope theres one near you) as for sanders you can just rent one for day cheap definatly look at Habitat, it sound like they will have what you need

  3. Habitat for Humanity Restores are great, if inconsistant , for doors, windows, tile, older appliances, light fixtures, etc. If none in your area, contact a contractor or large retailer for responses about what they do with their damaged products.
  4. There are recycle centers in many towns. I'm talking about the ones that sell you used doors, used sinks. They will not be cheap but only less expensive. Sometimes you find things in the For Sale Ads in the newspaper. Claw Foot tubs. They are in demand so expect to pay a bundle. A damaged, beat up one that needs to be re enameled would be your best bet if you can refinish it. Check with your stores.. in large cities the local stores have a dealer that takes returns, old stock, damaged merchandise and sells it. Each town is different as to the name of the company but the store manager would know who takes that stuff off their hands. Garage sales often have lights. Goodwill gets stuff that was donated to various charities (often pretty good stuff because the wife just wanted all NEW stuff). Check with a furnace repair shop .. or some place that sells furnaces. The guy in the repair department may know if parts are available. They won't want to sell them because of possible issues of used stuff that could cause fires. Call up the guy that does remodeling for people. If you haul stuff away for them it saves them money in dumping fees.
  5. When it's time for the kitchen backsplash and bathroom-- consider adding a tile mural on tumbled marble tiles or ceramic tiles . Reasonably priced but has the WOW factor .. and any image can be transferred onto the tiles.I have hundreds of images on my site to choose from. http://www.AliciaTappDesigns.com
  6. Check your Yellow Pages for Construction or Building Material Salvage Yards--these places sometimes have pretty awesome deals on used materials and fixtures. Or drive around your neighborhood and look for houses that are being rehabbed and ask the owners if they would be interested in selling the old fixtures.
