I have a Terra cotta outdoor fireplace that has cracks starting to develop. What is the best way to repair them
We use the fireplace so our repair job must withstand heat.

- plaster of paris or clay .
- The cracks add character.
- Masking them will probably look worse than the crack's. It's important to moniter the size of your fire. Generally, too hot of a fire is what causes the cracks. Metal strapping would keep it secure but will but will look bad. Just use it as is and keep the fire low.
- There is a fire retardant chalk you can purchase at home depot or lowes. It's between $15-20 per tube. Also it is a red color to match the terra cotta, or you can replace the tiles.
