When laying wood flooring, how to cut stone fireplace to allow wood to go under 1/4" ?
What type of saw will make a flush cut into the stone at floor level?

- I think it would be easier to trace the edge of the stone onto the wood that will be next to it and use a jig or saber saw to cut the wood.
- You can use and angle grinder and a diamond blade to do this. You can get it at any place that sells tools. Another option is to use a compass and run the pointed end against the stone and let the pencil ride on the floor. Cut the floor to match the stone. If the stone is flat enough you can use a piece of 1/4 round molding and glue it to the stone.
- I have not seen it done like that before. Frequently people use a wood trim molding - a shoe molding and sometimes flat threshold molding - around the edge of the stone instead of trying to cut the stone. Lot less work and it makes a nice finished edge.
