Is the gas and air mixture adjustable on a Superior Fireplace model VF4-CHN, a ventless model?

I am getting soot in the room it's used in.

  1. Looking at the web photo it has the fixed air intake. Although you want to make sure the air inlet is not clogged along with the burner ports. Also be sure that the model you have is in fact a vent free model. The other item would be to ensure that there is enough air in the room for combustion. All unvented heaters state that a window or opening to the outdoors should be opened partially to offer enough fresh air for combustion. Another thing about unvented heaters is they will yellow the walls and ceiling after repeated use. Especially if there is a smoker in the home. Also there is a large amount of moisture that is created by unvented products. At the link below they have a chart that you can use to determine if the home has enough air for combustion based on the size of your logs.
