vented or ventless fireplace?log size?

i want to stop burnning wood(tired of the mess)and i want to go with natural gas(furnance is behind the fireplace)my fireplace is 34" back width,35"front width & 22" depth can anyone tell me what size logs i need and is vented or ventless the better way to go?we do have a 6 week old son

  1. I have experience in HVAC, venting and fireplaces. Under no circumstances would I ever recommend a "VENTLESS' PRODUCT. Even the manufacturers now put warning labels and instructions in the packages. They should never be used in the home with anyone that has respiratory (breathing issues) and definately not with a newborn. It is a smart move to stop burning wood in your fireplace, however for health reasons and good efficiency consider having a DIRECT VENT FIREPLACE "INSERT" INSTALLED. It will add heat to your room, most have blower fans included and they are safe. A special glass covers the unit so your son (as he grows and hits the terrible two's) cannot put his hands in the fire. If you have questions, feel free to email me. Good Luck!
