how do i get rid of smoke smell in a wood burning fireplace?

- I don't think you do. It's a fireplace and the smell is inherent. Open the flue and when you open the windows and doors, maybe that will help some. But don't expect to be totally rid of it.
- Stop using it but if it is the smoke smell coming from the fireplace into your house then you will need to get your chimney cleaned because it is backing up into your house and can start a fire. If your chimney is clean then maybe you need to adjust your flue a little more smoke shouldn't be entering your house.
- u don't
- If you use it often consider having it cleaned and then installing an insert and a liner. This will seal off your opening. Is it worse when it's wet? If so you may need someone to seal the outside of your chimney. Still, creosote odor takes a long time to go away, even if you don't use it.
