How often should I have my wood-burning fireplace cleaned?
I had it cleaned and inspected last fall and used it about twice a week last winter. Do i need it cleaned before i use it this year, or can i wait until next fall to have it cleaned again?

- ONCE A YEAR, BEFORE THE WINTER MONTHS START
- you should at least have it inspected, especially if it is an old fireplace. you never know what could go wrong.
- You should be okay.To prevent smell and fire residue, clean once a year.
- You should at least have it checked every year, but you may not need it swept.
- Once a year. We clean ours before we are ready to use it for the season.
- I'd have it cleaned/inspected once a yr........burn only good seasoned wood.....enjoy your fire.
- actually, you need to have it reinspected and cleaned again this year babes. Also once a month during the buring season, get you a clean sweep log and throw on the fire as well, I've seen too many house fires happen because of untidy chimneys hun. Keep safe, better safe than sorry later.
- The very first thing that popped in to my mind was YES! Really it depends on what kind of wood you used last year but to be on the safe side have it inspected at least. If you use soft wood you need the thing cleaned/inspected more than once a year. If you use hard wood like oak....which is the best, the build up of soot wont be nearly as bad. Chimney fires are so dangerous. Had a house near me burn down from just that problem. Also, one other thing. Birds can and do build nest in your chimney over the summer if the chimney isn't covered properly. Be on the safe side.....Inspect! Good Luck!!
- Clean this annually! Creosote will build up wherever the smoke exits and cause a fire hazard! You'd be taking a chance leaving it uncleaned even for one season.
- When a fireplace is used creosote is produced and coats the flue. Can catch fire. For peace of mind call a chimney sweep and take the advice. Cleaning once annually is a good rule of thumb.
