I currently have a "Zero Clearance wood burning fireplace." Is it possible for me to remove this and replace

it with a "Fireplace Insert"

  1. That "Zero Clearance" means that the unit you have is rated to be installed in contact with flammable material. Its surface temperature will remain low enough not to cause a fire. Any unit you replace it with must carry a similar rating or you can create a dangerous condition. The whole installation was probably reviewed for safety. Changing any part of it is not to be done lightly.
  2. What are you talking about? A fireplace insert is used as an addition to an existing fireplace. You certianly can't remove your fireplace and have a fireplace insert. You need both.
