Wood that doesn't smoke or crackle

- It does not matter what kind of wood you burn: as long as it is really, truly seasoned Seasoning wood is the process of letting the wood dry thoroughly over a period of a year or more. Unseasoned wood contains too much moisture, smolders instead of burns, and doesn't produce substantial heat. Putting aside the issue of seasoning wood, I recommend burning hard woods such as oak, madrone, eucalyptus, or walnut. If you light up only occasionally, then I recommend fir for its easy, consistent burn and pleasant smell.
- DRY hardwood would be your best bet.
- any thing that is free, and dry
- All wood should be left to dry out.
- dry wood
- Any hard wood Don't use softwoods like pine etc as they will mess up your flue/chimney They will also spit a lot, even if seasoned for a couple of years.
- OAK!!!!!! THE BEST, IT'S HARD WOOD AND IT BURNS LONGER
- Morning wood :)
- logs.
- Wood generally smokes and crackles because it's wet, so use dry wood. Providing it hasn't got Flambar (chemical that stops wood burning) on it, you should be fine really. Fire isn't that choosy about what kinda wood you use I reckon!
- cedar or oak but any hardwood will do but cedar smells better
- Oak doesn't smoke or crackle.
- Hard woods that aren't green. The green woods cause chemney clogs. Don't use pine if you can help it.
- green hickory is the best. it still smokes but wont crackle as long as it is green. all seasoned wood will crackle because of the bugs in the wood. and all wood smokes.
- I used a combination of Pinon & Juniper. Pinon catches fast and Juniper burns long and hot.
- The best wood to burn in your fireplace is OAK. Next PECAN. After that MESQUITE. These three burn the best and have the least creosote, witch in time can build up in you chimney and cause problems. I have lived with fireplaces all my life, and they should be checked or cleaned each year. The wood you use also should be dried for 6 month or more before use.. Also don't get cheated when buying wood. A cord of wood is 128 cubic feet and measures 4 feet by 4 feet by 8 feet. The best lenght is 18 to 24 inches.
- I like red oak
- Any dry hard wood (as opposed to soft woods like pine, spruce, etc.) is fine. In addition to those mentioned above, cherry is very good if you can find it.
- As long as its dry and you can get hold of it cherry or apple is great any fruit tree or for really unusall try rose wood
- I dont really know the type of wood to use , but the best wood for not crackling or smoking is well seasond wood ! wood that has been cut down and left for a year outside , then brought in a dry place for another 2 years , its a long process , but its the best wood you can have !
